I’m seeing this wrapping up as:

Monk and a lotto or maybe top ten protected first to GSW

Kuminga (@ $23/year x 4 years PO last year) to Sac

Somebody dumped (DDR hopefully) to clear salary (possibly a waived and stretched instead) and Westbrook signed to a 2 + 1 (TO) deal.

Roster finalized.

The reports are the Warriors view Monk negatively and are trying to somewhat preserve future cap, and although I would prefer him in the deal to Keon, this might hurt a little to get over the finish line..

The problem though is that if the money is as advertised for Kuminga, the only contract match we have that works is Monk. Keon doesn’t make enough and Saric cannot be moved until September 13th.

I can see where Monk goes to a third team but that’s where things might hurt because it likely means paying in draft capital (one of the Char seconds likely) for somebody to take Monk and create a TPE for GSW.

Yeah, because of Saric I think there could be a time lapse to a possible announcement

Although, the fact that the Warriors are raising the contract price from 2/40 to 2/45 doesn't really speak to a deal already in place.

But, Keon being petulant and liking posts to join other teams speaks to my already ambivalence towards him that if Perry really wants this deal done.... (and I believe its going to take that type of value to do the deal)

Kuminga looking more and more imminent. Deal should end up being Monk and lotto protected 2030 first (turns to worst of Sac/SAS ‘31 first if not conveyed) for Kuminga and GSW will need to move Buddy to avoid the hard cap and still sign Horford and Melton.

The reason the Warriors are demanding an unprotected is because in addition to Kuminga, they view the contracts we are trying to give them (Monk, maybe DDR?) as negative and hurting their future cap

Would you guys have been for giving Fox the extension that the Spurs just gave him?

That is if he stayed with the Kings instead of being traded and the Kings more or less had the same result this past season, either play-in or maybe playing either OKC or Houston in the first round?

It would mean despite the numbers Fox has put up during his career, he'd have very limited playoffs experience, maybe not even a playoff series win at age 27, looking for a max extension to take him past the age of 30.

Kings probably would have had no choice, as he was the face of the franchise and they already committed big to Sabonis.

There's some uncertainty about how his game would age, because he relies so much on speed and athleticism.

Is there any reason why the FO is ready to give up on Carter so quickly? Considering he had a major injury and played quite little in his rookie, I am surprised that he seems to be on the outs

new G.M.s like to turn rosters over and get their guys and put their stamp on the team. Carter was drafted by the previous regime and since Perry has no loyalty towards him and he's young and has some promise, he's trade bait. I'm sure if anyone would bite Perry would move everyone he could but with the contracts and how limited teams are cap wise we're stuck

Honestly I was always nervous about maxxing Fox.

I love him as a player. That being said, I think it’s very clear that he was never good enough to be the true Number 1A guy in a championship team. I think that he is exactly where he needs to be as a top end Robin to Wemby and can be most effective in that spot. But that landscape is now changing and if I’m the Spurs, I would probably have looked to leave an escape door there somewhere. I mean if Castle and Harper develop - and that will not take three or four years - you have a problem of both cap and playing time in a crowded backcourt.

Personally I feel that he is now going to be near impossible to move so they are stuck with that unless they decide to move one of the other guys - and that doesn’t make sense for their current timeline.

Excuse me for invading your Forum. Boston fan here who lives in Miami. But for what it's worth, here goes. I walked into a BB training facility near me last weekend during closed hours (I know the owner) and low and behold, who was there?? Johnathan Kuminga and about 6 of his so called trainers. JK was working out for Scott Perry (Sacramento GM) who was in attendance. What I saw was some of the poorest body language I have ever seen of a player on that level. And on that day at least, Kuminga was shooting like crap. If there was some critics about Kuminga's shooting and/or work ethic, it wasn't helped that day. And it looked like he could care less.

Take what I said with a grain of salt because I was only watching for about 20 minutes.

Might point to the Kuminga thing being dead as well

I didn’t care about signing Russ, so much as he didn’t cost anything for vet min, agreed to any possible minutes allocation, because there aren’t many 2nd/3rd string options and his experience and mentality might rub off. But Carter? Vivek is serious about the nonsense
