Hey mitch, why does your thingy says "on leave"? :-?

I'm taking a little break from RealGM. I'll pretty much probably only be on during Kings games for the next few weeks (because I sure won't get anything else done when the Kings are on).

Kevin Martin has barely looked like an NBA starter lately. Whatevers wrong with him he needs to fix it and get back to the level he was playing at early in the season.

I actually hope the Hawks win. I wanna see the Hawks succeed because they expect so much from Mike. We're out of the playoffs unless we go undefeated from here on out. :( I didn't even know the Kings had games these passed couple of games, and i used to ALWAYS listen to them on the radio. I just don't have the passion right now.

And yet another game where we have bettered ourselves....well, nowhere. Heads are gonna roll right? To the tune of Shelden playing 3 minutes. Spencer not playing many more, and Douby getting entirely crunched. It's almost like a joke, the worse we get the more it seems we are pushing for that last playoff spot!! Woohoo!!!

Kings lost... :nonono: We just did this to ourselves...Missed FTs (We are one of the top teams in FTs % but shoot a horrible ~60%) and what the hell is wrong with Martin... Stupid...

Not nearly enough defense, Kevin being really off, and missed FTs - are the keys to this loss.

However, I really liked how hard the team played late in the game to try and tie it up. Could really see it.

With Kevin, either one or more of these things:

- Lacking aggression (why after the last two losses?)

- Being defended well (again, just didn't pay attention, but maybe this was there, and would factor into aggression. Not sure if Mario West was on Kevin, but if so, West is a rookie, but went to college multiple years, and has a defensive reputation. That was his role at G-Tech.)

- Road issues (this has been much less of an issue in the last year or so compared to before, but has still had certain off, below-average games on the road. I don't think it's this.)

This quiet stuff from Kevin really has to be improved upon. It's happened numerous times this season, and last season, too. For this season, either it's still the young player in him, and he can better from games like this and lessen it. Or, games like this are just going to happen sometimes for the rest of his career. Regardless, he's not going to be a #1 option, but he still has to better here, because he's going to be and is a top offensive option.

Good game guys. It's a shame you have no chance at the playoffs while a team like Atlanta could fall into the playoffs 10 games under .500.

I really wished we would have trade Marvin for Artest. I am not sure the Kings would have done that deal. Hawks could have really use Artest for this stretch run. It is a game the Hawks shouldn't have won. On the flipside the Hawks have lost several games this year with bad FT shooting. I guess it happens to every team as some point in the season.

I'm going to stop recording these early games...they are really starting to depress me.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

If we are going to tank, WHY NOT PLAY SHELDEN MORE?!!?!?

Moore was TERRIBLE. LIKE. ALWAYS.

I really am starting to question our team's spirit and if they are even listening to our coach anymore.

After a game last night...a game where we let the worst team in the league score at WILL...and we got BLOWN out of the water..you would think they would come back with some PRIDE and play some defense..

Guess I was wrong..

Personnel.

Effort can only do so much defensively, over-time, and you can't rely on effort for your main bunch of players defensive effectivneness. But of course ability can only do so much, as well.

Defensively, you need your team to have enough of a balance between physical ability, will, and focus. To be a solid defensive team.

As I've said in the past, games like this are why I want to see this team commit to defense, and eventually become a defensive-minded team. Win games on defense. That doesn't mean the defense has to be excellent or something, but still standing out. The offense is absolutely going to be there, thus setting up a balanced team.

Defensively, I want things to noticably start coming together with players, and then the defensive base being layed out in training camp(s). Making progress, and eventually becoming a significant defensive team. I'm not worried at all about offense because of certain internal aspects, and diverse available options, and eventual additions.

This is going to have to be initiated and worked to, sooner or later by this franchise, simple as that. Because you're not going to be a title contender unless you can defend.

A lot of other teams have built up their defense to a form of effective consistency, or are in progress of doing so - so, why not the Kings? Let's not have a limited perspective here.
