The Peja/Kevin comparisons are pretty weak IMO. I can see certain things here and there but there is no way Peja could score like Kevin, at least without someone feeding him the ball. Kevin can is a traditional slasher when he wants to be.
Kevin is starting to show promise in his playmaking skills from what I have seen. He is clearly seeing things out there in relation to his teammates that he wasn't last year or the year before. Now, I don't think he will become the next Tmac or anything but he is not the worst playmaking SG in the league by far.

I don't know why you would want to turn Martin into a playmaker. He's a scorer and he's going to be a scorer for the rest of his career. To perfect is scoring game, he has to become a better ball handler and better at shooting the turnaround jump shot. I would also like to see him shoot the pull up 3. If he does those 3 things, he'll be impossible to guard.

Kevin, I think, will be a good drive and kick player, which will let him get his 4 assists per game. But, I don't think that he will every be a creator for his teammates on offense. We really need a PG or SF that can create from the perimeter. Kevin's more of a go-to scorer when you absolutely need a basket or in crunch time.

I am not making comparisons to Martin's and Peja's style of play. I am comparing the way fans are defending Martin to the way fans defended Peja. When I first started posting here, this board had 2 distinct groups: Webber supporters and Peja supporters/apologists. The standard mantra of the Peja group was "all he needs to do is XXXXX to get to the next level" and "Peja still shows a lot of 'promise' to be a premier player". Frankly I am seeing more and more posts about Martin's future that are very similar to posts about Peja's future. And that makes me wonder if there will be a point where those posters realize that Martin will not develop anymore and that he is as good as he is going to get or if they will continue to talk about his "promise" in perpetuity.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

What you see in Martin now is pretty close to what he'll be for the remainder of his career.
I think if he works on his ball handling and adds a turnaround J he can become better. Maybe more consistent is the word I'm looking for actually but I don't think it's fair to say he's hit his ceiling when he obviously has areas he could improve a lot.

The thing is that in many respects Kevin has improved in his all-around game so far. His rebounding has gotten a lot better this year, he has shown more and more consistent flashes of improved D, and his passing really is coming along.
Peja was actually always a great passer and had great court vision. The problem was that he rarely penetrated so he never really drew double teams, so his passing was pretty useless. Kevin can actually penetrate, and perhaps more importantly, unlike Peja, he is willing to penetrate, so his improving passing could be very useful. Peja never penetrated partially because he could only use the defensive pressure drawn from his outside shot to penetrate (since, for a SF, he was slow as hell), but mostly because he was afraid of contact. Kevin in not only unafraid of contact, but half the time when he gets fouled, (I'll admit it) he's the one creating the contact!
With rebounding, first off, it helps that Kevin can "sky" for a rebound. Peja wouldn't ever "sky" for anything. And this again goes back to the aggressiveness thing (aside from the obvious athleticism factor).
