^His offensive game pretty impressive for a player his age, his rebounding is acceptable, but his defense still needs some serious work, obviously quicker players like darko may give him problems because he

Must be true, if it's a rumor you read on Hoopshype.

So you want more blow-out losses to the dregs of the NBA. Way to strive for success.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

I think everyone is overreacting here...

Yeah, Spencer had a good day in his first career NBA start, but it was against a team with the terrifying duo of Darko Milicic and Jason Collins.

And you'll never win if you allow Darko (who averages 7ppg/6rpg) to get 19 and 10 on you.

But hey! It's not all negatives. Sure, we lost AGAIN to one of the WORST teams in the league, but at least Lorenzen Wright got to play some minutes....right?

Life without Artest is going to be an ugly one... 8)

I think everyone realizes how it was against this Memphis team, but are looking at more from a general stand-point, in the way of Spencer's early development, and him getting a serious oppurtunity. Regardless of who it was against, he succeeded in stand-out fashion.

Also Milicic and Collins, aren't an average defensive combo to go up against, especially for a rookie.

More importantly he showed at times tonight, (and has in a handful of other games), he altered shots. Staying solid.

He eventually will need to find that balance between going for a block and staying more disciplined and contesting with his length and size. I think with his smarts and work ethic that will come in time.

Yeah it was against Memphis, but its still NBA level competition. Darko is a decent defensive player, and Collins isn't a slouch either. These are pros with pride, and Hawes putting up those numbers against any NBA team is impressive at this stage of his career.

Yeah, that's what I was talking about.

Hey, if we are going to do it, might as well do it watching our 19 year old big man go for a career night as well!

Don't forget that Memphis has been playing better lately and seems to match up against us very well even with our starting lineup.

And for Spencer to pull this off IN HIS FIRST CAREER START is very impressive IMO. He deserves a pat on the back.
