QFT

I'd bet his "homies" bail when the money dries!

lol I doubt his money dries any time soon. He'll be in the L for the next 5-6 years atleast, he's already made like 90 mil(rookie contract is like 12 total+he signed an 87 million/7 year contract back in 02), and he'll probably get 20-30 more easily.

First off, as you grow up you are supposed to gain enough maturity so that you are not irresponsible enough to put yourself in situations where you need your "homeboys to have your back". Second, if you need to have your "homeboys to have your back", it's obvious that you are not taking responsibility for your actions. Finally, what does all of this say about his "homies"? They're either a group of leaches living off of Bibby or they're just a group of thugs that Bibby thinks he needs to have around to look tough.

assuming that ALL situations are avoidable. personally, if i'm a young, multi millionaire, easily recognizable professional basketball player, that was as popular as bibby was i wouldn't go to the grocery store by myself. maybe i'm just paranoid but you got pro athletes getting robbed and murdered. things happen, your a target when everyone sees you on tv and knows your rich and knows who you are. so just for the security i can understand having friends and family around like that. but i'm speaking more generally, if "team dime", and yeah the name is kinda corny, are going around like a**holes starting fights or whatever then im not defending that, i just thought the notion that he's immature for looking out for his family and some of his friends like that was lame.

lol, he's making what 12 mil or something this year? if i had money like that my brother and my best friends wouldn't work again either haha buy everyone houses too, why not?

the tats are terrible, i'll keep it real, how are you that rich and you got tattoos like that

your best friend got 90 million in the bank and tells you he'll let you live for free in a house he owns and all you gotta do is kick it with him, maybe unload the dish washer and drop off his kids at school a few times a week, and he'll cover all of your living expenses and let you savor in the perks of the nba lifestyle, and you'd say no??? "nah sorry mike i'd rather get a boring 9 to 5 instead, i don't want people on the internet thinking i'm a leech" haha jk

I didn't say Bibby's going broke...I'm saying Team Dime breaks up when there aren't any more free hand outs.

Wait what? What exactly are you saying? That it's normal for a 30 year old with children to raise to have a bunch of dudes swarming all over the place?

No, what I am saying is that a 30+ year-old MAN who has four children with a woman he supposedly loves but still refuses to marry because of some lame ass excuse of " I don't wanna be the way my dad was and end up hav ing my kids having to grow up in a broken home" (Bibby actually said that a few years ago in response to a magazine repoter) settles the hell down and gives his young children a decent example of how to act in the type of society where you are a millionaire. You don't try to play at top gangsta thug by having your posse at your back everywhere you go. This behavior is typical of guys who grow up in middle class neighborhoods and are trying to look tough for their buddies in the L who come from the real hard knock situations. Webber was the same way with his "soul food" crap. Give me a break - his dad was white collar management in a Detroit auto plant and he went to friggin' Country Day school just like the kids of the doctors that I work with.

What my point here is is that when you get the goodies of the big $$$$ contract and the nice lifestyle, you also have a certain amount of responsibility of behavior that comes from entering that level of society. If the guy doesn't feel safe at the store, hire a friggin' bodyguard or have a service deliver your groceries. This is isn't the darn wild west where we all run around with our posse toting six-guns to stay safe, and it is quite ridiculous to try to justify this kind of thuggish behavior.

Also, if I was a club owner, I would be saying exactly the same thing insofar as having to pay his boys way in. H aving the star at your club is good for business. Having his thug friends who are already known trouble makers in another city is NOT.

Well since were talking about and being "down for da homies", let me just say im 17 years old and there is no way in the world i would have 10 people around me wherever i go all day and everyday if i was a celebrity. Im not saying it right to leave your friends hanging when they need your help or anything but that has nothing to do with mike bibby's situation at all.

Mike has a bunch of people around him who go around town doing stupid things that can get him in all kinds of trouble. As a 30 year old grown ass man, you should know better then to have that kind of crap around you because you never know what these friends and family might decide to do next. If it isnt beating some guy at a club when your drunk- then its maybe having a shootout at the club.

Now i know im going to the extreme worse case scenerio here but if your in the position mike bibby is in at ANY age, then you have to realize that guilty by association means something and it isnt just some corny cliche like i thought it was when my grandmother used to tell me (and still does) when i was a little younger.

This is along the lines of another point I was going to bring up. Michael Vick is a great example of a guy who thought it would be cool to have his friends and family hang with him and live off of his name and talent. well, that decision set in motion circumstances that led to him serving time for dog fighting and has put is future in the NFL in jeopardy.

Sure, it's all nice and dandy to have your friends and family around. And if you can afford it and want to support them, then I say go for it. Hell, If I won the lottery and had multi-millions of dollars guaranteed for life, I would buy houses for my immediate family and maybe for some of my close friends and would make sure that they were comfortable. That doesn't mean, though, that I would want them hanging with me all the time and I most certainly wouldn't want them to be leaching off of me or think that they are entitled to do whatever the hell they want just because I'm footing the bill. Being generous with what you have is one thing. Letting yourself be used by a bunch of cling-ons for your money and/or celebrity status is another.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.
