Artest Value

Post#1 » by cucad8 » Thu Apr 10, 2008 5:44 pm

Portland fan here. I know many of my fellow Blazer fans don't like the idea, I'm just curious what Sacramento fans would be looking for from Portland for Artest. I tried looking around your board to make sure there wasn't a topic on this, per trade rules stickied, and did not see anything. I am guessing because of the recent Jail Blazer era, it has not been brought up often, if ever. I think he would be a great fit for us at SF, and in my own little fantasy world, was just curious what you might want for him, or if we had anything you would want for him. Thanks.

i wouldn't expect that return...i don't see Portland ever considering that.

However, Artest/Thomas for LaFrentz/blazers pick #13 overall/travis outlaw/rights to fernandez would be something worth considering for the kings IMO. The blazers consolidate their talent...the Kings infuse a LOT of young talent.

Ron Artest, Kenny Thomas, Quincy Douby
for
Jarrett Jack, Raef LaFrentz, Channing Frye and maybe some kind of draft incentive.

Thats too much for Portland to give up. They are giving up a huge expiring and taking on a bad contract.

Artest/Thomas for LaFrentz/#13 with a filler(Jones or Webster)

We arent getting Fernandez, he just recently said he will be coming to Portland next year and his boy is already on the Blazers. Also I think its safe to say that the Blazers have learned there lesson and wouldnt risk Artest screwing with there young nucleaus. So its really a mute point. Although I would love to get Frye and it would make since for Portland to dump him as they have a logjam at the PF/C position. But I dont know where we could help them that would be worth it for us. Maybe Salmons or something but I would rather get rid of Artest and start Salmons.

Yeah it's pretty moot because Portland would never consider it, but I would do Artest/Kenny for LaFrentz/1st round pick.

Thanks for the replys, keep them coming. I didn't want to chime in on my opinion of whether I would do a trade or not, becasue I feel like on the trade board, that usually derails a thread, gets it sidetracked into a lame comparison, and really, I was curious just for myself. As you all know, Artest is a great player, and it's other things that bring his value down from where it really should be. I lived in Chicago when the Bulls drafted him. Met him in the airport once when I worked there in the offseason. He was super cool and I have liked him ever since. I think he would push us closer to the top. I would easily take on Thomas, and trade Raef(expiring) and our pick for him. I know most others wouldn't. Anyways, I liek your guys' team. I am a big Kevin martin fan as well. People always talk about Roy playing PG for us, and I want Martin to play SG alongside him. Will never happen, but I am sure you guys know why I would want it. Just a stud SG. I read comparisons of Rudy Fernandez to him, which obviously gets me excited. Anyways, thanks for the replies. Really just for my own fantasy that we would make that trade. Good luck.

Ron and Reef for Raef and the 13th pick would be fine by me. I don't think we can dump Kenny, I just don't think it's going to happen.

U think the Kings would consider that. No way of adding Roy for Reef as well. Artest / KT for Frye / Raef and #13 would be fair for both.

As much as I like Artest I think if we made that deal with PDX we'd be making out like bandits!

1st AND getting rid of Kenny Thomas...WOW!

I'd rather kick myself in the balls than trade Artest to the Lakers.

I'd rather kick Kobe, Phil and Jack Nicholson in the balls as a compensation for Artest going to the Lakers.
