Best Package For Carmelo

Post#1 » by SadKingsFan » Fri May 9, 2008 9:35 pm

What can we offer for Carmelo now that Denver says they will "listen" to offers? I would assume our 12th pick would of course be offered but if we had to give up Kevin martin i would do it for sure, im sure they wouldnt mind another great scorer who is pretty efficient.

I'm not really a fan of melo and if we do trade him with that package does that mean he plays the 2 spot where ron plays the 3. And if you include ron in a deal with kevin do you think its worth it to loose these guys with different strength's for melo? melo is good but he and kevin are somewhat similar being offensive minded players.

First off there is no way in hell Melo is getting traded. Im sure a reporter asked the GM if he would listen to offers he says yeah and now there is a headline about it. I guarantee in the next couple days he will come out and say that it was taken out of context. They would dump AI before Melo.

But just for entertainment purposes I would Give them Ron, this years 1st rd and next yrs first rd(lottery protected) and either Salmons/douby or Garcia. I mean Martin, Melo, Hawes and Ron would be a hell of a start to the future.

They probably aren't going to trade him, and we can't get him. I ultimately don't think they will.

AI plays and will continue to play SG. So Kevin going there wouldn't work. AI playing point guard more than in spurts, limits his effectiveness, and takes away from what he does best and what his career role has been: playing off the ball and scoring. Setting others up just isn't a primary mind-set of his, nor should it be.

Plus, other than Kevin being a better shooter than Carmelo, Denver has another scorer-scorer main duo.

Scorer-scorer duo isn't a bad thing, the bad thing about the Melo/AI duo is that they are both ball dominators which KMart isn't, it might work, but I don;t see it happening.
If it does happen, I see Melo/Artest as forwards than wings pair.

I'd rather have Martin than Melo, I'm really not a fan of his.

You should post this on the Denver board, they would be able to tell you what they would offer more than we could. I agree with Smills, I wouldn't trade Kmart for Anthony. I think he is vastly over rated, he is not a top 5 sf IMO. LJ, Butler, Pierce, Josh Smith, Artest just to name a few are guys I would rather have. Anthony plays unmotivated half the time, plays no defense, and is a terrible outside shooter. Let the Nugs keep him.

Melo is a fine player, but I wouldn't give up anything that they would take--including Kevin.

no way is this trade going to happen if we have to trade martin AND our first. I would do this if it was Artest, Garcia, our first and maybe williams. no way is martin involved

^ I wouldn't even do that... that's gutting our team, to pair two score-first guys together who aren't and won't be relied on for much defense. And neither one are going to be able to slow down the other team's best wing-player. And, of course it'd be a long-term situation.

At SF generally - I'll take Ron Artest over Carmelo...

At SF starting a team - Carmelo

My best offer would be something like Artest+Salmons+#12.

I don't think Carmello is an upgrade over Artest. Yes CA scores more, but Ron is worth almost 2 more possesions a game in turn overs and steals. And when they play heads up Ron usually wins the battle.......So my answer is let Denver keep Carmello :)

No to Carmelo. Denver won't ditch him and I wouldn't want him.

This is the thing with Melo...unless he adds to his game and becomes more rounded I think he's not going to be that great. He can score, and will be in the playoffs annually. All the kids will sport Melo gear, but when it's all said and done he's headed for Dominique Wilkins status. A great individual talent, but not too much to show for in terms of team success.

So Artest being > Melo equates to losing Salmons and a lotto pick. Good grief.

Thats the type of package Melo would demand considering his age and potential. Just because Artest>Melo(which is debatable) doesn't mean Artest>Melo in trade value.

carmelo

Post#19 » by dozencousins » Tue May 13, 2008 10:53 pm

The bottom line is we wont end up getting carmelo this is likely nothing more than a smokescreen by denver trying to get carmelo to straighten up and not get in any further situations with the law !
I see this is the nuggets putting a fire under his @ss so to speak !

This is not even really a worthy topic at this point !

Melo wont be in Sac ..... :wavefinger:
