Raptors/Kings Trade?

Post#1 » by Raptor04 » Fri May 23, 2008 2:29 am

Hey guys, I'm a Raps fan, and I just wanted your thoughts on the following trade:

Sacramento Gets: TJ Ford, Rasho Nesterovic, #17th pick, cash
Toronto Gets: #12 pick, Ron Artest

You guys need a pg desperately, and TJ Ford would be the perfect player. He's a good scorer with a great midrange game and quicks, plus he would solve all your defensive problems with his lateral speed and quicks. Rasho would give you the inside presence you clearly don't have in Brad Miller (you gotta admit that) plus an expiring contract to make cap room at season's end.

Ontop of that, you really would only drop 5 picks and there's not a whole lotta talent you'd be interested in that's in those 5 picks (your needs look like PF/SF). You're estimated to pick Russell Westbrook (a SG, you already have Kevin Martin). PLUS, getting rid of Artest this year wouldn't hurt you guys at all, since you're in rebuilding mode and Artest expires at seasons end.

So really, you only drop 5 picks and don't miss out on any players since they would still be available 5 picks down. Then you drop Ron Artest's huge contract. For dropping 5 picks and a year without Artest (do you really think he would sign with you guys beyond next season when you're rebuilding?) you get a starting quality pg, a inside presence center and still a high draft pick to draft an up and coming forward. Plus capspace to come next season.

What do you think? Feel free to tweak this trade proposal.

Kings aren't going to swap picks with the Raptors when we're giving up the superior player

We need a pg but not desperately like you say. Beno is a good fit temporarily. Also, getting a big man that can clog up the lane is a bigger priority for us as of right now. This athletic big we're hoping to obtain in the draft. I'm just not that big of a fan of rasho.

This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.
