I am still very interested in that SAC-IND trade involving JO for the #12 pick. I really wish some info would come out that could gauge JO's value amongst other teams. Last year it was Bynum, and there isn't a chance in hell its that high anymore. Only way my suggested deal work is if #12 is included, and time is running short.

My DREAM off season would have...

Trade Johnny Salmons and a Quincy Douby for TJ Ford
Trade Ron Artest for Josh Howard
Draft Russell Westbrook

TJ Ford/ Russel Westbrook
Kevin Martin/ Cisco
Josh Howard/ Cisco
Mikki Moore/ Shelden Williams
Brad miller/Spenc

Any DREAM scenrio for me has the Kings landing an all-star caliber PF.

im a bit more crazy and think we should just really become a young squad and do this:

trade artest for ford and #17 (i know its been discussed but im a dreamer and thats what i want)

draft- speights or arthur at 12
donte greene at 17
draft dorsey and bill walker in round 2

PG: Ford, Udrih (resigned), Douby
SG: Martin, Garcia
SF: Salmons, Greene, Walker
PF: Moore, Speights or Arthur, Williams
C: Miller, Hawes, Dorsey

put thomas on inactive because the guy just sucks and hopefully SAR retires

I'd love to see it happen but I dunno. I think JO could come in here and I think he could have a similar effect that KG had on the Celtics. He's only 29 and if he's on a better team he'd probably be rejuvenated. Martin/Artest/JO would be a ridiculously good trio. Also JO and Artest was an awesome combo on D in Indy, I think they would be here. But I dunno if I see it happening. It makes sense though. I'm not sure if it CAN happen because of JO's opt out option on his contract and the draft is before the date for him to excersize it or not(same with why we may not be able to deal Ron for a pick this year).

JO is owed a lot of money over the next two seasons. No way he opts out. It's like 24 MIL over the next two years. Early reports also indicate a healthy JO, but I've heard that before.

It's $44 million over the next two years, and...JO hated Ron with a fiery passion when they played together here.
I have no idea what you're talking about, and clearly, neither do you.

I wouldn't say it's fiction. There was tension. Even before the brawl when the Pacers were good, you could see there was tension between JO and Artest.

+1 I follow the Pacers somewhat (since I live in Louisville) and as far as I am concerned JO and Ron were very amicable off the court and had some differences ON the court that was virtually instigated by Carlisle's system. I don't think they ever hated each other with a fiery passion even after the brawl. There was tension between C-Webb and Pejina at some point, so if their wasn't tension between Ron/JO i'd be MORE worried about their reunion.

Plan Draft Rebuild

Assumptions: Kings would like to go into a full rebuild, while becoming competitive in a few years. Detroit and Denver both are going to make 1 final push for winning. Draft order follows draftexpress's latest mock (They do a better job than draft.net)

Plan
Step 1) Move all older talent for younger talent/projects
Step 2) Draft with the mind of gambling on some picks and going for solid sure things on others.
Step 3) Setting up a team with huge financial flexibility starting in 2009 and will continue to have the flexibility up until 2011. Meaning, we can sign big name FA in 09, 10, 11, all depending on who we want...also not signing money for the heck of it.
Step 4) Setting up the team for a top pick next year.

Draft Day Deals (Really busy day)

Trade w/Det & Utah

Sac give: B. Miller
Sac gets: J. Collins, R. Price, J. Hart, #23

Det give: A. McDyess
Det gets: B. Miller

Uta give: J. Collins, R. Price, J. Hart, #23
Uta gets: A. McDyess

*Agreement that Kings will cut Collins, Price, and Hart*

Sac reasoning - We tried to trade Miller to Orlando at the deadline for expirings, this trade allows us to do that while picking up a draft pick which will be important.

Det reasoning - Making one final push. Miller/Wallace is a great tandem, not giving up. Great deal for them.

Uta reasoning - Excellent for them. McDyess for the 23rd pick. Couldn't get better.

Trade w/Tor

Sac: J. Salmons
Tor: A. Parker, #17

Trade w/Unknown
Kings #43 pick for other team's 09 2nd round

Draft Results
12. R. Westbrook
17. J. McGee
23. M. Speights
42. Bill Walker

Offseason
Sign - Beno Udrih - 3 year/16 million, team option on 3rd.

Trade w/Den
Sac: R. Artest
Den: M. Camby, 09 1st (Lotto Protected)

Final 08-09 Roster
PG: B. Udrih/R. Westbrook
SG: K. Martin/Q. Douby/A. Parker
SF: F. Garcia/B. Walker
PF: M. Moore/J. McGee/M. Speights/S. Williams/K. Thomas
C : M. Camby/S. Hawes/S. Rahim

Further Plans
08-09 Season - At the deadline, move Moore to a contending team for expirings. Moore would only have half a season guaranteed left, so he would not hurt any contending team, netting the Kings a deal similar to Kurt Thomas.
Focus of the year is giving time to younger players, seeing how much potential they have. Namely, Westbrook, Speights, McGee.

This team would also very likely land in the bottom 5 teams in the league, with teams Seattle, Memphis, New York, Minnesota being worse.

This will allow our team to draft one of B. Griffin, R. Rubio, B. Jennings, putting an allstar at either the PG or PF position.

The future of the team lines in the young players, and the team will be ready for playoff pushes come '10 or '11. The total team salary would be under the cap by roughly 15 million, allowing us to give a max contract to a player in either the '09, '10, '11 markets.

The team's bench would very likely end up looking like Udrih/Westbrook/Garcia/Williams/McGee/Speights/Camby
making our bench the best bench in the league, something that will be crucial to the teams success. Our starting PG spot would likely belong to Jennings or Rubio or FA. SG belonging to team veteran K. Martin. SF belonging to Garcia, DeRozan, or FA signing. PF belonging to Griffin, FA signing, or possibly Speights/McGee. And C belonging to Hawes.

Team has both a mixture of superstar power, intelligence, offense, defense, bench, clutch shooting, size, quickness, and athleticism.

JO and Ron were/are fine off the court, but there was some tension on the court relating to the offense. I think it could of definitely been worked out in time, if other things didn't influence Ron's trade demand. I think both have improved in that aspect since then, especially with both getting older.
