I'm a bulls fan...And seeing that Tyrus Thomas will be working out with Thrope this summer.
How many summers did Kevin Martin workout with Thrope? How much do you think he improved after this training there?

Question about Kevin Martin and David Thrope?

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.
NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

I remember reading how long Kevin had been working with him...but I don't remember exactly what it said.
But yeah, I think that first and foremost it is the player (the coaching won't go anywhere if the player isn't willing and able to work and learn). But of course, having a really great coach helps a lot too.
Obviously, none of us can really say for sure who was more important to Kevin's success, but from what I've heard, it sounds like Coachie was pretty damn important.

Little piece I thought I'd post, Kevin/Tyrus session summary, from a recent work-out with David Thorpe (Deng also there):
http://www.blogabull.com/2008/6/14/5521 ... ng-and-tho
Watching the Bulls with regularity again this past season, Tyrus really did improve noticably offensively (mid-range j, ball-handling, passing, hook shot), as well as his overall confidence at times. He had a bunch of notable games, as well.
Still, the problem for him has been getting consistent and significant playing time, in which he's shown many times now over his first two years, that he deserves and needs. Not only to develop, but to be productive for the Bulls, too. Coaches not playing him and other veterans there, have limited his oppurtunities and form so far. Getting consistent time will only help both his development and effectiveness, until the former becomes less, and the latter, more.
I'm so intrigued for his future, and should have a better situation to play from now on.
One interesting note: I paired Kevin Martin with Tyrus for an hour long shooting session one afternoon so TT could watch the little things Kevin does as a shooter/shotfaker. In the last 25 minutes, I can honestly say that Kevin not only never missed a single shot (that I saw), but I never even saw him hit the rim. It was a stunning display of shooting, but afterwards, all Kevin could talk about was how special of a talent Tyrus is. TT also shot very well, had his moves and fakes looking like a pro, and had such a positive disposition that afternoon. I told Kevin that TT is that way every day, as long as he is surrounded by like-minded guys. I believe Vinny will be great for TT, and I told that to Kevin, who responded with "then the Bulls are going to be really good again".

Yeah, I like Tyrus Thomas to tell you the truth. He will get better from Thorpe's training. He DID got noticeably better from last summer with him. I cant wait how improved is Thomas for the incoming season.
But yeah, it is good to hear that Martin is working out with Thorpe and several Bulls players. Dang, I like Martin's work ethic. He will be an all star next year for sure if he keeps improving.

Wishful thinking I'm sure, but it is very encouraging that TT and Kevin are working out together and being friendly in the offseason. Maybe Kevin convinces him to sign here in 2010 when we have the $$$ and TT hits his FA year.
