Yea that is basically what I meant. The Celtics D is really good, and they have 2 good shotblockers and rebounders in Perkins and KG, who are both very mobile and strong post defenders also. They have Rondo who locks down opposing PGs and is good at playing the passing lanes and roaming around when he wants to also. But even still with a great scheme and a great group of guys who can rotate etc, checking Kobe man to man is an extremely difficult thing. Pierce did a great job playing 1 on 1 defense a lot of times, of course it helps that both he and Kobe knew Pierce had help coming from KG and Perkins if Kobe penetrated and also that Boston's D in general is just good.

Still, real impressive by Pierce. You got to give it up for him man.
