Well technically we already have about 4 years in the hole. We have drafted very well the last 4 years on a less steep decline and made a couple of very good FA signings (Salmons, Beno?). The problem is that the young talent is still blocked in by other MLE signings and players still taking up roster space. We are pretty decent in the youth department:

Martin, Garcia, Beno (maybe, may depend on who we draft), Hawes, Shelden, our 12th pick this year. And Quincy Douby hasn't even gotten a real chance to show what he's got yet. I think he has the most untapped scoring potential on the whole team. Hopefully measures are taken to insure he gets that opportunity next season.

Trading one of Salmons/Ron would be the #1 way to open up minutes for Douby at the 2.

Me, myself I am all for a Artest/Miller deal to Miami getting back Marion. Simply because Marion is great in the open court which is conducive to Theus' uptempo style and he expires after this year. There is no way that he will get what he is making now so the KIngs can sign him at a bargain, S & T him or just let his salary come off the books. Either way it's a win, win for the Kings.

If this deal can be worked out in a way to bring back the #2 it would be even better. I would love to get that #2 and still hold on to #12. It's a long shot but it would be nice......

I came up with this

Sacramento Trade Breakdown

Miami Trade Breakdown

15.8 ppg, 9.9 rpg, 2.1 apg in 36.4 minutes
New York Trade Breakdown
Change in Team Outlook: +6.8 ppg, +7.8 rpg, and +3.8 apg.

13.4 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 3.7 apg in 34.9 minutes

2008 1st rd. draft pick #6

For Miami
If they aren't really sold on Beasley this affords them the chance to move down but not too far down. They also get Artest a nice catch for that #2 slot. If they take a Westbrook to add to Artest and Wade, they're perimeter defense would be one of the best in the league.

For the Knicks
They get to move some of those contracts and start to change the makeup of the team. Walsh knows Brad and D'antoni knows Marion. Plus, Marion expires next year, combine that with Marbury that's two big deals gone. Jeffries & James represent 2 of Thomas' mistakes and they would welcome getting rid of both. Obviously, more deals would have to be done. For instance the Sixers have interest in Randolph.

For the Kings
The Kings get to add 2 lottery picks to a young team on the rise. Beasley and Augustine, Beasley and McGee, Beasly and Arthur or Beasley and Jordan. Either scenario sounds good to me. Sure they take on a few contracts but none too major and Rose would expire after the season who would be a great mentor for the KIngs big men especially Sheldon Williams. He could even be kept as an assistant after next season. James expires in 2 and Jeffries in 3. Maybe Theus can help someone like Jeffries who does have talent. My favorite scenario would be Beasley and McGee with a trade later for a young PG like a Lowry, Jack, or Rodriguez just a few examples. I think a Salmons for Rodriguez & Webster deal works.

Kings roster:

PG- Udrih, ?- trade(Rodriguez)
SG- Martin, Garcia
SF- Beasley, Salmons, Jeffries
PF- McGee, Williams, Rose
C- Hawes, Moore, James

Could you clarify what picks are going where? Because it looks like we're just trading Brad and Ron for Jeffries, Rose, and James, which I think I just might pass on.

I really hope we can get a late first round pick. I really would like to draft Roy Hibbert. Some other guys that could be in the 25 to 30 range are Alexis Anjica, Nathan Jawai, and Ryan Anderson.

I don't think Hibbert will be there that late, as well as Ajinca. I'd definitely take Dorsey, Hickson, or Hendrix over Jawai and Anderson.
