Re: Kings Lakers Trade
the op trade is ridiculous.
and this is coming from a laker fan.
if anything, he should have at least offerred odom, ariza, mihm - for cap relief and more young talent.
but anyway, what's the kings' fans opinion on this -
odom and mihm to chicago
nocioni and gooden (exp) to the kings
artest and moore to la
(and no, lakers' won't take kenny thomas instead of moore...)

Not a chance; and it's not even close in my mind. It's just another trade where the Kings get back talent that doesn't fit the team.
The Kings have NO need for Nocioni (with Salmons & Garcia playing Nocioni's primary position already) and Gooden doesn't provide the most important thing the Kings need out of their future PF (defense)--he's also a complete moron when it comes to B-Ball IQ.
Lakers fans need to get it through their head that if the Kings trade Artest they're going to want a rebuilding package--they're NOT going to want to dilute talent with a bunch of veterans that don't fit their team.

Kings want NOTHING to do with Odom or really the parts he would net in a deal. Why? Because Ron has MORE TALENT AND VALUE than Odumb does and any deal bringing in rebuilding parts would be better off cutting the Lakers out and dealing directly with THAT team. So unless you're offering TREMENDOUS value(Gasol) or the rebuilding parts(Bynum). The Kings aren't interested.

I guarantee that 15 out of 16 playoff teams would rather see Ron Artest in their starting line-up. ESPECIALLY after that doozy of a performance Odumb just had over the past 20 some odd games the Lakers just had in the playoffs. Ron is a much more necessary piece to winning a championship than Odumb is.
Damn, why are all Laker fans the same?! IDIOTS!

After watching how much the Lakers could have used Artest in the finals this year, there is no way in hell I would agree to a deal centered around Artest and Odom, even with Kenny Thomas added in there. By giving them Artest, we might as well be giving our most hated rivals the championship. I wouldn't consider any Artest deal with the Lakers now. The only way I would consider one would be if they put Gasol/Bynum on the table .

Well then ....
I wonder if we could pull off a 3-team trade with the Jazz where the Lakers got Artest & Miller, the Jazz got Gasol (and maybe something else), and the Kings took home Boozer.
Now that's DEFINITELY something I'd be interested in.

3 team trades are kinda rare. Artest/Miller for Gasol and whoeverthehellyouwant would be perfect. Drool.

Re: Kings Lakers Trade
Personally if I'm the Lakers the only way I'd take on Artest is if he opts out and signs with them for the MLE. There is absolutely no way the Lakers would trade Gasol for Artest and I doubt that they would trade Odom for him either. The reason has nothing to do with Artest's abilty because he obviously is very talented when he wants to be and would be exxactly what they Lakers need at SF. But Artest is a bomb waiting to explode so teams, including the Lakers, are not willing to trade fair value for him. So if Sacramento can get him to fit in with their team and can get him to sign an extension they would be better off keeping him because they're just not likely to get much back for him in a trade.

Re: Kings Lakers Trade
Wow...it actually took 4 pages for someone to bring up the "ticking time bomb waiting to explode" analogy. Ron's reputation must be improving. Those comments used to come up on the first page (right along with the comments "I would love to have him on my team").
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

Re: Kings Lakers Trade
1. I don't think Artest is a ticking timebomb
2. Phil Jackson loves working with those kinds of players (and has publicly complimented Artest)
3. If you get Miller in the deal with Artest for Gasol, you get a big who duplicates some of the qualities you like from Gasol (passing out of the pinch post and a decent faceup J from the FT line)
