Baron Davis

Baron Davis opted out... do we... could we.... I mean it would have to be a sign and trade, but he may be the only player that could make this team a contender this year. But do we want to be contenders this year?

No, he's too old, likes to shoot to much, too expensive and not talented enough to bring the kings a championship now. I thought the same thing when that came out though, so don't feel stupid. We need a pg, he's a pg, but it just won't work. Plus he's just doing this so he can resign with golden state for more assured money before he gets old.

We can't get him, plus we don't have the appeal... I wouldn't be surprised if he took the MLE to go play for a playoff team.

Now that Baron has opted out, Beno is not the top PG that is on the market. I'm worried that this will keep Beno from going to Clippertown.

Would not be a fan of Baron coming here, at all.

Same here. I don't want to pay the MLE for multiple years for Beno.

Naw, I don't see much chance at all Baron goes to the Clippers. Although I guess a Mobely/Thornton/Gordon package could be interesting....

If they just let Maggette go, and sign Baron before resigning Brand, they might be able to get both Baron & Brand down in LA, but it would require alot of fancy manuevering.

The good thing about Baron Davis opting out, is that it's one more PG on the market that people will be targeting that teams will focus on, while the Kings can focus on a guy that they're more likely to be able to get.

Beno may not be the ideal person or perfect fit as far as the Kings PG situation, but we could certainly do a hell of a lot worse.

Not to mention that if the market cools on Beno, we may not have to offer him as much.

That also makes the Warriors a damm good team if they don't f*** up this situation.

Monta, Bien, Wright, Randolph, SJax, Al, Azu, + 1 max contract player? (Gilbert, Josh Smith)

Monta
Azu
Smith
Wright
Bien

I don't think it matters when they sign them--especially since Brand's cap hold is massive.

I would be ok with him on the team, but not for 5 years at 6 million?!

I would much rather us get an average PG, give him 2 or 3 million over a span of 2 or 3 years. 5 years at 6 million a year would be one of the worst things we could do.

Well I mean they do lose a very good PG. I don't think they'll be any better with any replacements. Ellis will have to have really matured as a PG for that to have any chance of happening.

Baron to the Clip Show

Baron Davis shocked the Warriors by opting out of his contract on Monday. Imagine their surprise now.

NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com's Marc Stein that the guard reached a verbal agreement with the Clippers on Tuesday night and will sign a new multiyear contract with Los Angeles after the leaguewide moratorium on signings and trades is lifted July 9.

Davis was in line to make $17.8 million in the last year of his deal with the Warriors, but after telling the team that he wanted to stay, opted out at the last minute.

Sources told ESPN.com that Davis, 29, will receive a five-year deal worth an estimated $65 million.

Forward Elton Brand also opted out of his contract with the Clippers on Monday, and speculation quickly began that the team would try to keep Brand and sign Davis. This scenario is only possible if the Clippers renounce the rights of Corey Maggette and Brand takes a slight pay cut.

Sources say the Clippers are expected to do just that and quickly reach a verbal agreement to bring back Brand.

Maggette opted out of his deal on Monday as well.

Davis averaged 21.8 points, 7.6 assists and 4.7 rebounds last season for a Warriors team that won 48 games but did not make the playoffs.

Woah

Brand is next...

Really good job by the Clip Show here in getting back into the thick of things.. Brand needs to be in the playoffs again.

They're going to be fun and interesting to watch, and I really like some of their players.

Post-up city...

Baron, Mobley, Thornton, Brand, Kaman, Gordon, Paul Davis (to a lesser degree)

They need to improve their wing-defense... Thornton is not proven and young and seems to be more of a score-first guy for the time being, Mobley is a solid defender, but shouldn't and can't be the main wing-defender... they need to go get Q-Ross back or another defensive wing.

3PT shooting is there...

Not sure Powell will be the guy behind Brand, but if so, that's fine.

Not sure if Smush will be the back-up PG, maybe. I think Knight while smaller and older, would be better.

I think they'll turn out to be legit, health will probably be the only thing that can hold them back.
