If this deal is just sitting I think Petrie is trying to find a third team.

I agree with this.

It makes me wonder what the Knicks would give up for a rental of Marion.

It's already been reported that they'd give up Marbury. I don't totally mind the idea of them sending Marbury to us.

How about Brad and Kenny going to Miami, Marbury and a future 2nd from both NY and Miami coming to us, and Marion, Douby, Mikki, and Banks going to NY?

No, if I'm essentially trading Marion for Marbury, I want more compensation than two second rounders. Geoff would just hold on to Marion in that case.

All I have to say is if this deal is true, and Petrie is indeed finding a third team, AND he pulls some magic out of his hat, I'll never bring up the C-Webb trade again!

But if he's seen as no more valuable than an expiring contract in the eyes of the Kings might as well get the guy that won't take time from Hawes and Thompson.

They'll get enough time, just like they're getting enough time right now.

I don't see how Marion would take PT away from them anyway. He plays SF. It'd be nice to see someone get Salmons off the floor.

I think he'd play mostly PF with us. I think he's better at that spot as well.

Marion for Brad and Kenny Thomas?

Miami's incentive for trading Marion and taking Brad's extra year is Kenny Thomas!!!

Miami can get a better player than Brad for Marion in a trade or by simply letting his contract runs out and signed a free agent next year.

We'll see. You in particular severely overrate Marion's trade value. Historically, RENTALS haven't gotten close to full value. The rumors suggest that the Kings were the ones in a position to accept/decline this particular deal. Whether that's true remains to be seen, but you shouldn't be so flippant to dismiss them as a quality center that doesn't mess with your 2010 cap space isn't just rubbish.

And how much space under the cap would the Heat have exactly to sign such a free agent next year???

Honestly Brad Miller would keep Wade healthier because he'd draw bigs out of the lane.
