Also, I think it's worth noting that Boston didn't have a true offensive superstar last year. KG is still a top 10 player, but not a superstar offensively at this point. The fact of the matter is that there are only probably about 6 superstars in the league right now, so we simply can not rely on getting one. We have to look for another path.

I never said anything about waiting, I was simply replying to the initial point of the thread
"Whether or not you need a superstar to win"

*In my opinion, Webber was a super star*

You plan for the worst, hope for the best, and do the most with what you have.

However, the notion that Kevin Martin being our number 1 player and being able to lead us to a title is just foolish (unless our entire team happens to be borderline/fringe allstar's.)

Yes, but you also have to live in reality--where a superstar isn't going to happen, so we have to look to adhere to another model.

I think the important thing about Chris is that, while he did have the talent of a superstar, we rarely used him like one. For all intents and purposes he wasn't. When the team was in trouble, the attitude was never "get it to Chris and let him take over". It was always about running the system, basically no matter what. It usually worked out pretty damn well. At the very least, Chris not being used as a superstar is not really why we didn't win a ring--at least not the main reason.

And that's not how I would suggest we use Kevin either. But I think it's completely possible that Kevin is the leading scorer on a championship team.
