Should we pull a boston?

Post#1 » by $mooth » Fri May 8, 2009 2:03 am

everybody remembers when boston slipped in the draft and so they traded the pick for allen...well i think that if we dont get #1 or #2 then we should trade the pick(smills dont get mad that i would rather trade the pick than draft tyreke)and maybe if the offer is right we could even trade the rights to griffin or rubio.
i was thinking something like this...
we send:
noc
udrih
any other cap filler
3rd or 4th pick
chicago:
hinrich
deng

now i dont think the salry matches up thats why i said throw in a filler and maybe a second but this trade would make our starting 5 look pretty beasty
hawes
thompson
deng
martin
hinrich
add in our other first round pick and our second and we have got ourselves a playoff team...not saying a championship contender but that a team that can be very good

anyway if you dont like that trade then what would be another scenario that would be good for the kings?
dont you miss when the kings vs. lakers meant somethin...

We do not have the pieces to get a Garnett type star (Al Jefferson is miles ahead of Thompson, and they gave up years of draft picks and screwed themselves for the future), the draft is much shallower and no one will give up a ray allen type star for the 4th pick in this draft.

Overall I would prefer to build a winning team, and do not want a 1 year flame team like boston. They are in bad shape for years to come after that. We need to relax and play for long future.

actually i dont think boston's future is going to be that screwed
they will have powe, rondo, and big baby well into the future
rondo is looking like a star
they will have alot of cap to sign big name free agents when allen, pierce and garnett come off the books
dont you miss when the kings vs. lakers meant somethin...

Playoffs?

That team wouldn't come close to 40 wins. That's no where near a playoff team. Hawes and Thompson are no where neeearrrr capable of starting for a playoff team.

By the way. How the hell is adding Hinrich and Deng "pulling a Boston?"

Here's my "pulling a Boston" scenario:

Trade Thompson, Udrih, Thomas, 23rd, 2010 1st (lotto protected) for Amare

Trade Nocioni, Griffin for Tayshaun Prince

Sign Jason Kidd this summer

New Roster:

Kidd/2nd
Martin/Garcia
Prince/Garcia/Greene
Amare/Diogu
Hawes/Amare

That is a contender

Hou Pick + 2010 1st Round (Top 10 Protected) + Udrih for Brand
3rd/4th pick + Garcia for Caron Butler
Thompson + Kenny Thomas + Noce for Chandler + Posey
Sign Kidd
Resign BJ to vet min.
Resign Diogu to min.

Kidd/BJ
Martin/Posey
Butler/Posey
Brand/Diogu
Chandler/Hawes

There you have, the new Sacramento Kings!

Salaries dont match and have no reason why teams would do those trades, but whatever... Beats trading Griffin for Prince

^ Not a bad scenerio. The major concerns would be Brand and Chandlers health. If healthy, that'd be awesome. But this season, they both have had health issues.
Sometimes you just have to look yourself in the mirror and say....Tyreke Evans.
That just happened.

u playing NBA Live? Only trade I like here is the Butler one...
Elton Brand ruined 3 franchises in one year, what makes you think he would do better here??
Tyson Chandler is good, like him a lot, but not sure if I'm ready to give JT for him just yet....

allow me to explain. First I am an idiot. second I did this late at night.

I ran out of trade assets to use, Griffin was the only thing worth anything while creating this "plan." I knew Prince would be an easy yes. Maybe should have gone for a better SF. I apologize, and I am ashamed.

hey, i'd be all for prince coming to sac given the right trade, or a straight up signing. He isn't flashy but he plays great D and can score as well. Having a Hawes/Thompson(Griffin)/Prince frontline would be pretty damn good IMO
