It looks more organized than it has in the past couple of years. There are still some things we could do better. I agree with the idea of feeding the bigs down low a little bit more (Jason had some nice plays earlier in the game in the post), and I agree that we could make better use of screens , but over all I am pretty please considering the point we're at in the season.

Defensively, I agree that we have looked better in parts, at least. It was horrendous against OKC, good over all against New Orleans, and mostly pretty bad against SA. But the half court D wasn't that bad. The problem against the Spurs was that we got killed in transition. We really had to pay for every turnover. So I think we have to work on our transition D.

There was this guy Tim Duncan down there that put it on Jason Thompson. Timmy D did his thing and passing into the post would have been a disaster. Other than that I agree.

I don't know, I thought Jason did pretty well a couple of times when we fed him early. We didn't really go back to him much after that IIRC.

Yeah, if anything the first two games really showed how unbalanced this team is if the idea is feeding the young bigs in the post. I said it before and after the first game and the same truth still rings, Jason Thompson is not the kind of player you "feed" the ball into. If you do, you're not only getting less than you can out of him and your team, but you're setting yourself up for some big time failure. This team needs to work off the pick and roll and drive and dish, they could be very dangerous in both sets. They've started implementing a little more of that but not nearly enough. The Spurs just about zoned us to death and with the kind of outside threats this team has with Nocioni, Casspi, Martin, May, Thompson, Hawes, etc. that should never happen. Happened last year too with the misconception that it would be smart to be a "triangle team". Dumb, dumb, dumb.

He did. He's OK in the post, but it's like last year where it seems like this team is trying to literally run things out of the post. That's stupid when you have a slashing combo guard leading the way.

Not really. If you have a good post option, there are very few circumstances where you shouldn't use it. And it worked really well a couple of times last night. Spencer got a couple of dunks when he was playing down low due to Tyreke's penetration. Having your big down low like that does crowd things--leading to more turnovers, but it also leads to a much higher percentage shot if you can complete the pass.
