It seems that SRod's dribble penetration is working much better than Beno's management of iso games, and picks. Brockman is really great, he's always a plus when he plays.

He's doing a great job facilitating offense..

He looked good doing the same thing vs. the Lake Show, too!

The big guys played solid tonight. Thompson was very good with 15/11/2block/4asts. Casspi put up 21/9 you can't play better than that. Donte 21/6/2/3. Hawes was solid 8/6/1/5.

Not a bad night defensively when JT/Donte/Hawes combine for 5 blocks. They hung with Philly, just couldn't get it done late. The vets just didn't get it done offensively. Beno and Nocioni stunk tonight. We needed one of the vets to hit a shot late with Evans down.

Offensively we played well and had a nice little lead and then we let it slip away. but, it's tough to sustain large leads in NBA games without your best player.

Defensively, you can't body up guys that much on the perimeter when they are looking to drive. because the sixers starting lineup is small and athletic. In most cases they got a mismatch in their favor. So basically you want to give up the outside shot(which is what you want to give them), well that strategy didn't work but i can live with that...

Must be true, if it's a rumor you read on Hoopshype.

Just got back. Not the most pleasant game to be at. To me, it boiled down to pretty simple stuff.

Defensively, I thought the team lacked some energy. Strategically everything was fine, but there just wasn't as much consistent energy. Having said that, the sixers also just had a ridiculous shooting night for them. Not much you can do about that. You're supposed to give them that outside shot. They usually won't make it. Tonight they did. I'm calling that an anomaly. And it was tough because it not only resulted in more made shots in the obvious sense, but it also let them spread the floor. And not even looking at the 3's, there were just a lot of made jumpers that aren't usually going to fall at quite that rate. Having said all of that, the effort wasn't there consistently all night. Also, we really struggled with transition D. We only had 12 turnovers, but it often seemed like a lot more. I don't know what their points off of TO's was, but it felt like they made us pay with their speed every time.

Offensively, to me, it boiled down to not having an inside presence. We never seemed to really give Spencer much of a shot inside, Jason had a decent game statistically, but really couldn't consistently get things going. Sergio was all right--but I really feel like his stats make him look better than he actually played. And we saw what happened with Donte inside. He made some nice plays, but as a go-to post option tonight, the idea was right in terms of exploiting the matchup, but he just doesn't have the playmaking abilities yet to really be a force in there. We saw it especially at the beginning of the game. Philly knew we were going to go to that mismatch with Donte in the post, and they crashed, and it worked. Donte just isn't a good enough passer to be that guy yet--even when he has that mismatch.

In short, offensively, we really really missed Tyreke tonight. But I would like to reiterate that we should go to Spencer more in the post. He may have some bad games statistically, but I think it can really pay dividends in the long run.

Ugh, don't know what else to say than that game severely angered me. Was like watching a 3 point contest.

Also, Tyreke and KMart can't come back soon enough. Our schedule gets alot tougher than the sixers, thats why we need this game.
Sometimes you just have to look yourself in the mirror and say....Tyreke Evans.
That just happened.

It wasn't really the "sixers" that burned you though, it's our 2nd best 3pt shooter Rodney Carney. That's his mark in the league, as an athletic 6'6 wingman that can shoot. Seeing as he played in your conference, I'd expect you guys to have a focus for him, but ya let him open and he burned ya.

Also, Andre Iguodala pulled a game out of his ass. Normally he shoots(and misses) 18 footers like the plague. Tonight, he played under control. And Allen Iverson/Lou Williams took care of the rest.

I also think the Speights dunk is the play that changed the game. At the time, you guys were imposing your will in the paint(thanks Eddie Jordan) but Speights makes the aggressive play after the stupid tangle up with Donte. And that really turned the tables for this team.

You guys got great young pieces, Donte's a high caliber player. Casspi is very nice. Thompson and even Hawes. I agree with Mitch: You gotta throw him the ball every time down the floor and let Thompson, Casspi, Evans(Greene) work on the mismatches in the half-court.

In 2 years? You may be the team to beat out West. You also got 2011 cap room right?

More 2010 than 2011 actually. The Kings don't have any big, bad contracts expiring in 2011 while everyone gets the standard yearly raises. Currently our 2010 team salary is looking to be $41mil + our 1st rounder + $2mil in minimum salary cap holds. So around $45mil at this point--giving us around $10mil to work with. In 2011 we have Hawes as a restricted free agent ($8mil cap hold) and have total salaries (including rookie options) totaling around $42mil + 2nd year of 2010 draft pick + 2011 1st rounder + another $2mil in minimum salary cap holds. That puts us at around $48mil in salary. Add Hawes and we pretty much have no money.

So as it stands right now 2010 is the year the Kings will probably have cap space in the foreseeable future.

You can't look at stats like that. Someone has to score! We gave up 116 so I can't say it was a "good" defensive night on much of any level. Again I'd like to be positive here but we're still giving up more points than we're scoring.

When he played in our conference, he averaged under 18MPG--and that was on the freaking Timberwolves. That's not going to show up on peoples' radar. The guy had more or less done squat in the league over all.

And his career high 3P% was last year at 35%. This year, it's at 33% so far, taking 1.7 3's per game. I still feel comfortable in saying that if this isn't a fluke, it's certainly not a common occurrence. But I'm leaning towards a fluke at this point in his career.

i agree and donte sucked with his TO's. if you let Canswer score that much points on you, and you concede 116, you are helluva bad defensive team, like we are.
