I hate that the Maloofs and Kings fans would have said Hawes is a p**** if he was outrebounded by Beno in a game and would have been benched the next game. Yet Landry gets beat 10-6 by BENO on the boards and will still be considered a tough guy and start.

There's a big difference. Hawes can get out-rebounded by Beno with nobody else around. Landry got out-rebounded while he had guys like Jamison and Big-Z banging around with him to prevent him from getting boards.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

Well, really it's more that Hawes' lack of rebounding has been often construed by posters as him just being "soft" or trying to avoid any harsh physical contact. There is no question about Landry in either of those departments. He's one of the more physical players in the entire league, it's just that he simply doesn't have the skill or some other aspect that causes him to be a subpar rebounder. Just not his game. He is tough and is very, very physical however, just doesn't clear the boards too often.
