My point is using your popularity to advocate and draw attention to something you believe in
or have strong feelings about is perfectly acceptable. I'll go further with that, if you believe strongly In Something you have a duty to yourself to do what you are capable of to see that change in the world happens.

Uh...what? No. So you're saying that Tom Cruise should do ANYTHING he can to make sure that everyone converts to Scientology? Do you see where I'm going here?

If that's what he believes in then yes he should try to bring awareness to his beliefs. I don't agree with him but if you believe in something then you have a responsibility

Specifically as humans we have a responsibility to speak out when we find injustice.

"THEY CAME FIRST for the Communists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.

THEN THEY CAME for the Jews,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.

THEN THEY CAME for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.

THEN THEY CAME for me
and by that time no one was left to speak up."

I personally don't want the Kings to get involved in any of this ish. I just want to watch basketball, but I have little problem with businesses, celebrities, or anybody else advocating whatever, it's their right, but I do think they often get annoying as many of them are self-righteous and don't know what the hell they're talking about.

Anyway, as long as my rights aren't infringed upon, then it's all good.

I agree with both points, I don't think the kings should get involved. It should be a league wide thing, not a team thing if anything. I also don't care if anyone else wants to get involved such as celebrities, but a lot of the time it sounds like nagging.

It may come across in a negative light when people get in volved in issues that they normally wouldn't but it's better than just letting it go and not doing something.

I know the quote I have up there a few posts back isna bit heavy handed and dramatic but it represents a very real time in our history when people shared skaterdudes view of things and it led to devestating consequences.

Comparing the Holocaust to this is just insulting. Have you even READ the bill? Asking for someone's ID, when they are committing a crime, is COMPLETELY different than KILLING a whole group of people based on their RACE/RELIGION.

Once again, they are here ILLEGALLY, which is already a CRIME.

And 70% of Arizona, which voted for this bill in the first place, doesn't have the same right to bring awareness to THEIR beliefs?

It may have been a comparison to the holocaust but the point is still valid by ignoring injustice we as
a people open ourselves to abuse and the best way to avoid that is to speak out. One of the best ways to do that is a boycott because it creates an actual impact on the financial side of things and as we all know money makes the world go round, so easiest way to create change is to attack the financial structure of the offender. That why we have fines when we brake the law, that's why they chose the world trade center as their target and not the statue of liberty because it would have a larger impact on the US economy.

All right, let's just go ahead and nip this one in the bud. This has veered away from any Kings discussion.
