The guard rotation is so **** up. I don't think you can look at it as a division between PG and SG. What do they lack?
Tyreke and Garcia are good defenders.
Beno and Garcia are good shooters.
Beno and Tyreke are both big guards (205 and 220 llbs)
Beno and Tyreke can both create their own shot.
Beno and Tyreke are strong finishers inside.

Tyreke is good at interior passing and drive and kick.
Beno can control the pace of a game.

The only thing missing that I can see is defensive quickness, meaning I only trust Tyreke against Rose or Westbrook.

At the guard spots, I'd prefer to get somebody like Sergio again (not Sergio specifically obviously since he is committed elsewhere)--a pure PG to play spot minutes to solidify the guard rotation.

Otherwise, as of right now, I see the rotation looking like this.

PG - Beno (34), Tyreke - 14,
SG - Tyreke - 22, Cisco - 24, Casspi - 2
SF - Casspi - 23, Greene - 25
PF - Thompson - 22, Landry - 26
C - Cousins - 28, Dalembert - 20

So yeah. We reallllly need to move one of those 4.

I'm noticing a lot of people putting Thompson in there at the starting 4. How many here actually think he'll be the starter this season?

Same with Cousins. That would be sweet but I think Daly starts although Cousins will most likely make a point to be the starter and hopefully most so with his level of play.

I think Cousins is the starter. He's not particularly raw, so I think he'll be better than Dalembert right away. And I would rather have JT starting with Cousins, to bring Landry off the bench. I'd rather have Landry with Dalembert just to make up for the lack of offense from Dalembert.

I agree Mitch; a pure PG who can shoot, it would've been nice to have Bibby now then Reke could run the offense at times and let the PG like Bibby play off the ball coming off screens or there to knock down the 3 when Reke penetrates. If some how the KIngs could get Stephen Curry to come here when he is a FA that backcourt would be great. The Kings could also just good shooting SG (a Ray Allen type) and leave Reke at PG, bringing Udrih off the bench. At this point JR Smith comes to mind or maybe Wayne Ellington or Daequan Cook but I don't know if those 2 are starting quality.

I also agree Mitch that Landry needs to come off the bench; he fortifies the bench with instant offense. Landry loses his effectiveness if he starts; maybe he gets equal or more minutes than Thompson but Thompson should start; he has true PF size and can guard the #1 PFs better. That is if he can learn to stay out of foul trouble besides I think Thompson is on the brink and will have a breakout season.

I don't know about Thompson haters but I have noticed a few posts around here that don't even mention Thompson in the Kings future; like he isn't even on the team anymore. Many saying that Cousins & Whiteside are the future starting big men for the Kings. I see Cousins/Thompson as the core of the frontcourt with Whiteside providing defense off the bench and they all are the future of the Kings.

I think if Petrie can find the right fit at guard; the Kings can sneak into the playoffs or at least challenge..........

The Jason Thompson haters "coincidentally" were Spencer Hawes supporters so you can take if from there.

VeeJay is spot on when speaking about Jason having a breakout year. Last season I thought PW did major lineup tinkering to see what kind of team he had. I think it's clear who can do what now to me, and we have a solid 8/9 guys.

JT is going to have his best year as a pro this season without question.

Landry is going to start, not Thompson. Landry has a much better post game and if we're putting Dally up front to start, we need some offense.

As a Rocket fan who absolutely loved Landry i'll say this. Landry can't play Small Forward. He just doesn't have enough perimeter skill to play that position. The few times that the Rockets played Landry at Small Forward(along with Chuck Hayes@5, Luis Scola@4), it usually ended up disastrous. Landry is nothing but a 4.

That is exatcly why he should come off the bench, especially if Cousins starts which I believe will be the case. If you have Landry and Cousins on the floor together that is 2 players who excells in the post. Thompson can step out and dribble drive and be more effective off of Cousins post game plus he has better size to deal with the other team's PF. Landry can come off the bench and be free to work especiall if you use him to spell Cousins or you also bring Dally off the bench at the same time.
