Another idea with greene at the 2
I was thinking about the tyreke, greene, casspi lineup from a defensive standpoint. If they played a 2-3 zone like the suns do occasionally. it would be extremely tough to score from the perimeter with a 6 6 guy and a 6 11 guy in ur face, and our interior defense is really good, with dally and whiteside especially. they can probably play at the same time if they did play 2 -3. other than that, i doubt it. What do u guys think??

I think now with Dalembert (and maybe Whiteside), the Kings can changed their defensive philosophy a bit.
I wouldn't want my defense be primarily zone but I see what you are saying. I think we can have a guy like Greene as a 2 in the perimeter. Well first, Greene has the defensive reaction and good foot speed to keep up most guards despite being very tall for the position and most positions under Westphal's offense is interchangeable. Meaning that, you can have guys play multiple positions w/o diminishing their effectiveness on that position.
I like the idea but I still like to keep the Evans/Beno backcourt as our initial offense because they work soooo well of eachother.

Greene isn't a long term solution at any position but SF. He can play minutes at other positions, but right now, slotting him primarily somewhere else would be a mistake.

+1
Greene showed he is quick enough to defend some of the great scorers (and 2's) but he's a 3. He's getting bigger which means he'll be a 3 with ability to be more comfortable playing more 4 this season if he's called on for it. He only played the 2 last year due to Cisco being out which allowed him the ability to get more play time.

I agree Greene is NOT a long term solution at SG but when you look at our roster right now he may be our best option. I like his size advantage at the postion and truly believe that Tyreke Evans is a point guard. That being said the Kings do need to make another significant roster move to bring in a long term backcourt partner to Tyreke but this probably wont happen until the trade deadline (Moving Dally's contract) or next offseason

Agreed with the general consensus. That lineup might be good defensively but there isn't enough ball handling. I think last year, the times the kings looked their worst was when Evans was the only ball handler out there and everyone else was standing around waiting for him to make a move. This would kill the teams offensive rhythm, or more accurately kill any chance of getting a rhythm in the first place.

Greene, unlike any player on our roster, is a freak athlete. The only reason he's a "3" is because he's a jack of all trades master of none type player right now. In 5 years when he's 27 he very well can be a jack of all trades player that has mastered some skill.
In watching Donte it looks like he's never been coached. He's a player that's gotten by on just pure athleticism alone. I just think if he keeps working he can be a REAL dynamic player. I think forcing him to be one thing is a mistake.
