Unlike Evans, Curry can proficiently play both guard positions. If they need a shooter/scorer, he can play off the ball. If they need a point who can distribute and pose as a threat from deep when teams zone up, he can do that. He's more versatile in what they need in the international game than what Evans does, which is more suited to the NBA game as a ball-dominant slasher/scorer.

Not sure how you can say that with a straight face. Their assists are virtually even (5.8/5.9) then you gotta take into account the GS had better shooters on their team and put up more points. Evans can distibute just as well as Curry and Evans is actually more versatile because he can post up. So anyways just thought I would throw in my two cents.

Once the season starts and Evans dominates Curry and once team USA gets man handled, we wont hear about any of this nonsense.

What team USA "needs" is at least 1 player that can physically dominate his position, nobody on the team can do that right now. NOBODY. Not hopeless, especially considering how no big stars are playing for their respective countries this year, but definitely a hole on paper. Tyreke was the only player invited that could fill that hole.

I honestly don't know how he said hat Curry, unlike Tyreke, "can proficiently play both guard positions". Seriously, both can play SG/PG. Now can they both GUARD PG/SG? Well, Tyreke can. And Curry... well, at least he tries.

Furthermore, it's moronic to say that Tyreke can't play point. Tyreke haters (and Curry loves, although not necessarily both) like to point out that Curry is a better passer - which isn't a question, he is. He's a very very very good passer. However, to act like Tyreke can't is as utterly ignorant. Tyreke's assist numbers rose throughout the year (jumped as soon as we got another competant scorer in Carl) and he ended the year with just .1 assist shy and roughly equivelent turnovers (Tyreke was exactly 3 and Curry exactly 3.05). It's just completely ignorant to say Tyreke can't play point.

You're right, he's easily a decent point guard, but Team USA already had a couple of those in Rondo and Rose, with Curry ready to step in if needed. Evans' biggest strength, his driving and finishing ability, also happens to be replicated by the national team's two point guards (they do it with speed, he does it with upper body strength and coordination, but it's pretty much the same result). Even without the injury, he ends up as the odd man out, mostly due to being a little less experienced than the two guys ahead of him. With a more reliable jumper, he probably makes the team over either Eric Gordon or Rudy Gay.
