Hassan Whiteside?

Post#1 » by cl24 » Mon Aug 30, 2010 2:49 am

What do you think of him? Good defender, athletic, low basketball IQ, do you think he'll be any good? Or do you think he'll be a scrub?

Who's he comparable to?

Everything about his game screams Marcus Camby, though in workouts he looked like he may have more of a offensive game, hope he gets his chance likely wont get the touches

Ya he seems to be like a camby or dally kind of guy. Really no offensive game even though he was hitting a couple mid range shots in summer league. But a 7 footer who can get 10 pts 10+ reb and 2-3 blocks a game can be a major contributer. Never gonna be a starter probably but a good defensive prospect.

Hassan is a great upside if he becomes Camby, GREAT shot blocker and has an offensive game, but I dunno if that'll be the case.

Well i think camby is a decent comparison but whiteside is more athletic than camby and is slotted to be a powerforward by himself and the organization. I think his potential is massive and as petrie has proved he has a very good eye for potential. We were considering whiteside for a very high pick if we didnt get cousins but somehow he fell to 33 and we got him anyway. I see him being a bit of a long term project and so im not expecting anything from him this year. But we have him locked in for cheap for 4 years. And it doesnt hurt that this guy wanted to come here, he seemed just as excited about the kings as the kings were about him. So long term i have some pretty high expextations for him but in the short term im not ezpecting much.

For real, he's a big-man so he'll develop in time, he's going to be a long term project but I think he'll be a productive player when he ages.

Legit upside and the best part is he might be a perfect fit next to Cousins. They already looked pretty good together in summer league so who knows what they might become.

the way I see our roster in the future actually depends on Whiteside's development. If he develops into a legit starter next to cousins that will be best case scenario and will lead to mu favorite outcome for our team. If he ends up a solid rotation guy that can be the primary back up big that's still a very good scenario and we should still have no major issues. However if he doesn't develop into anything with meaningful production then it will be very important that we manage to keep a hold of one of Dalembert or Landry in the long term. It's important to keep one of those 2 because the best teams in the NBA always have a talented trio at the big positions.

my favorite option.

Whiteside 33 minutes/Thompson 15
Cousins 33 Minutes/Thompson 15

IF that can happen the kings should be in a positon where there is never a major let down in talent at in the post. But again this all depends on Whiteside developing into the PF version of Camby that alot of us envision.
