I definitely think Dalembert should start. For the year up until the deadline, and if they keep him, after that. (I know the Kings have no intention of trading him-they've coveted him for awhile)

Cousins is still only 20 years old and playing in the post. He's not going to come in like Tyreke or Rose or perimeter players and be able to dominate. He needs to mature.

And last year, you could definitely tell there was a need for a mature leader in the frontcourt. Daly helps bring some stability...you know what you're getting: 8-10 points, 10 boards, and a couple blocks.

Besides, isn't it about who finishes?

Dalembert should start until Cousins proves he's starting material. He may not be his 1st year or 2, but let him prove he's a starter until you actually start him. Bigs usually take longer to develop. Cousins is a little more NBA ready though so he may be ready quicker than most and as early as this year. Dalembert has proven he's a quality defender in the frontcourt and one of the best shotblockers in the league. If he gets off to a good start he could boost his trade value to a team lacking a defensive presence and the Kings may be able to use some combo of Daly, cap space, young players, picks to net a real difference maker by the deadline.

I don't see this happening. If they do decide to trade Daly, I can see them trading him for a pick and a player like Kirilenko to a team needing that defensive presence. Not to say that Kirilenko is better than Daly, but just if Cousins IS ready to come in there by trade deadline and play significant minutes, and Whiteside develops well enough, Daly becomes expendable.

Sometimes when you're making a case for a guy you don't have to discredit another. My reasons for having Landry come off the bench have more to do with getting him more touches and shots. I think you can really go to him more when he's going against certain players.

yea i agree with the guys last post.. looking deeper into it imo its because of Landry's height. He is a very polished offensive player but due to him being a bit undersized he is not as effective against the big boys who are as talented. Utilizing his skills coming off the bench will give him and the team an advantage where although he still may be undersized against other bench players, his skills will be far more superior and will win the battle (houston figured out this formula already). With the starting line up we have thompson starting at the 4 will serve more purpose and gel better with the other scorers on the floor. Thompson and Dally as our low post big men doesnt equal a ton of points. bench and team is better served with dally/ landry bench, DMC/thompson starting

Although I agree with longfellow as I see Landry as our best trade asset, I also see it as the best thing for him to be playing as the sixth man for just the same reasons listed before - i.e. he is more effective and getting more HIGH PERCENTAGE touches by coming off the bench and being blended appropriately with the other bigs who can cover his size deficiencies.

As far as Cousins goes, I think that we need to come to the understanding that we have NEVER had a big of this quality this high in the draft. As fans, we need to step back from the usual way we are about young bigs coming in here and for once throw the caution out the window. This kid is poised to be the next great Center in the NBA and guys like this start from day one. He may or may not play 30+ minutes right off, but that is the point of having Daly, JT and Whiteside there with him. He will be able to be who he is (god I hope) going to become without having the burden of the franchise thrown instantly on his shoulders like many guys like him have.

As of RIGHT NOW, Landry & Dalembert start, but Thompson & Cousins get the majority of the minutes.
Dammit...:

I've got Nurkic fever now.

I'm pro JT starting, but on a night to night basis it may make more sense to revisit who gets the minutes. I don't feel either is the complete answer. We've seen both start for extended periods of time.

I feel that both of these players have little upside to their games as they kind of are who they are physically. JT can become smarter (we hope) whereas Carl will never become taller. If JT gets it and puts it all together then he'll be the better player. Some of us think he will. I think he will. Some of us don't.

Even still I don't see Landry being expendable even if JT gets it.

^^IF thompson became a smarter player and didn't make so many mistakes as far as fouling goes, he would already be a significantly better player.

Honestly I think that his carelessness is the only thing holding him back. IF he were to ever sort that out I see him easily being an 18pt 10 rbs guy. But that would be due to a serious improvement in his defensive decision making.

JT is inconsistent for a good reason. He's simply not the kind of player that you formulate any type of offense around and players like that will score 25 one night, and 5 the next. He will rebound though, and I honestly think that trait could be best used off the bench. I think we are already seeing the defensive shortcomings of JT/Cousins in the frontcourt. I just hope they try out Daly/Whiteside with Cousins because that will work on so many levels. At this point I think the battle of JT/Landry should be about who becomes our new 6th man. I think Landry and Cousins could work well together though. I need to see more, well...I actually need to see it at all!!! hahaha.

We will see this season if JT improved his consistency, or atleast 60%.
