Players Only Meeting

Post#1 » by braveheart916 » Mon Nov 29, 2010 4:09 am

Teams like the heat and memphis have held players only meeting which has helped memphis some what. I think one of the players needs to arrange something similar to that in Sac. It just worries me that in their off time or even after game players are going to local clubs and/or hold celebrity poker tournaments. IMO that causes a lot of distraction they need to focusing on their game and figure out a way to turn things around.

A meeting like that would be beneficial now its up to the players to make one happen.

Ya I saw Dante Greene at bar/club Tre last week. He wasn't really drinking or anything but still he was out late.

I really don't see a true leader on this team that the players will listen to.

No argument from me that someone needs to step forward and organize a players only meeting. Whether or not it helps the team improve their performance it would be a signal that someone on the roster has an interest in being a leader. THAT is the biggest thing the team is missing: on-court leadership. It would be ideal if Reke would be the one to do this. That's what should be expected of the guy that the owners are banking on being part of their "faces of the franchise". So far he seems unwilling to be that guy. He talks about how he thinks the expectation of him is to "put the team on his back" or at least be the one to take over and create. However, what he fails to demonstrate that he understands the difference between a leader who can put his team on his back and a selfish player who doesn't want to trust the other 4 guys on the floor.

If Reke is unwilling to accept what it takes to be a leader or can't comprehend what is needed from him with respect to making things happen for the guys around him, then Petrie desperately needs to get a player who WILL fill that role.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

"No, not really," Evans said. "I was aggressive. I was trying to attack. They were running back and tied the game up, and he put me in. I just tried to create and look for nobody else because when it comes down all on me, I just try to create and attack."

Until he learns to trust his teammates and be part of the offensive system he will NEVER be the leader that is needed.

This is all the coaches fault. :D I kid i kid

Your right Tyreke has been made the face of this franchise and he needs to step into that leadership role. I understand that can be hard for a young player to do, but until he really takes charge of the team his teammates will just see him as selfish instead of a guy trying to go out and win games. If he can get the support of his teammates it will make a big difference in how the team functions on the floor. Trust breeds chemistry. And right now I see a team with out trust. Westphal and Petrie need to do the things to create the right atmosphere for this team weather that is getting behind their current roster and throwing their full support or making some moves to get the right attitude in the locker room. Either way if the Coach and GM are doing their part then Tyreke needs to do his.

tyreke is the face of this franchise i agree with that but maybe he doesnt have the personality to be loud and be the leader of this team, thats what Garcia is still here for. Cousins is that guy but he is just a rookie and isnt mature enough to organize something like that.
