First of all major props must go to SacKingZZZ for possibly the best thread title of all time. Secondly this story is fascinating, I can't wait to see what ends up going down. How ironic would it be, Petrie saying PW's job is safe only to have them both sacked?

This is the same damn argument we went through when Adleman was fired.

No, Petrie isn't perfect, but he's a top GM in this league and we aren't gonna find anyone better. Replacing him would be even more stupid then letting Adleman leave.

I don't really know Petrie's history before the Kings, but who was Dumars (as a GM) before the Pistons? Who was Pritchard before rebuiling the Blazers? And again, I'm not saying he should be fired, mainly because of gambling on a GM and a coach now is going nuts, but he in NOT a top GM in the league, he's been barely average for 6-7 years, he has his strong area (draft) but weak ones (free agency and tendency to ignore players with great physical attributes but poor fundamentals, mainly shooting, under valuing defense), he enjoys a much higher status than he deserves around here.
In Adelman's case the players quit on him, he couldn't motivate Bibby and Miller anymore, now we know it was Bibby and Miller who should;ve been gone and not him, but it was not that clear back then.

PW has done a bad job with a bad team. Petrie's ability to draft and acquire players and has been all over the place. I know Petrie has been forced to make trades to save money, but this roster has limited talent. The big problem is if we fire PW & Petrie who in the hell takes their place.? We need new owners who are willing to spend. Now you have a team that doesn't have any players with trade value, except Evans & Cousins, and good luck getting a star player to come here.

While I think we should keep Petrie (or at least keep him until the end of the season), it is interesting that Petrie only seems to truly succeed when fingers start pointing at him.

I still think Westfail will be gone after we lose 2-3 more games, but Petrie will most likely be given the chance to make a trade or two before he's let go.

There is no way Petrie gets let go in the next two seasons. The Maloofs love him and rightfully so. Firing him would be the biggest mistake in the franchises exsistance.

Firing him now would be a mistake, but with all the cap space and youth we'll have next year, if things don't improve then...he'll be gone quick.

There are rumors that Petrie has been pushing the Maloofs to allow his son to take over when he retires/leaves, but I don't know about that.

Walton needs to replace Westphail as Sacramento kings head coach. His word's are truly magical. Just read a few of his quotes. lmao.

* "DeMarcus Cousins, that was the worst defensive rotation in the history of Western Civilization"
* "Omri Casspi, you have the prettiest jump shot in the history of the Sacramento Kings' organization"
* "Just throw it down, Carl Landry. Forget the fadeaway."
* "I love your creativity, Beno Udrih. You'd be an unbelievable guitar player. Just let it roll."
* "Donte Greene, I have seen continents drift faster than you get back on defense." (HT to Ziller for that one)
* "When I look at you, Tyreke Evans, I think of Jerry Garcia and the true age of rock and roll. You've got it all. You can do things that we've never seen from anybody, on any planet."
* "DeMarcus, what we need you to do is come crashing down in the great state of California, the capital city of Sacramento. We need you to come and erode other teams. We need you to roll over them."
* "Jason Thompson, you have a body that's cut from stone. It's as if Michaelangelo had a lightning bolt flash in front of him."
* "Luther Head, you are a disgrace to the game of basketball and everything that is beautiful in this world. You played like a disgrace tonight."
* "Guys, those were the two worst defensive possessions in the history of professional sports. Sumo wrestlers could move your feet faster than you did on those plays."

I don't think those were BW's quotes.

Just playing devils advocate, but out of his 15 years here, how many would you consider our "best" years? 3? 4? Not really all that much in the grand scheme.

It could've been longer hadn't Webber's knee disintegrated. That's not Petrie's fault. And remember, we ain't the Lakers or Celtics. Success is a lot harder for a small market team like us to achieve.

I'm not on the fire Petrie bandwagon. We had a excellent chances to win 2 championships, and for a small market team that's rare, and it was all Petrie's making. Lady Luck unfortunately didn't take a liking to us.

Westphal however, I would like see something done there. If not fire him, then let him know that's his ass is on the hot seat and he's got to do something now.

I don't care who the GM of this team is...if they don't have the freedom to spend money they will fail!

I don't think Petrie or Adelman thought this was a winner post Chris Webber. The time frame where Geoff was playing pseudoGM and the Maloofs had their hand in everything is biting us big time right now.

That's not what it's about and you best believe PETRIE is the one holding the Maloofs back from aimlessly spending money. You only have one shot to build a legit team with cap space. If you spend it unwisely you'll be stuck for years having to resort back to swapping players and assets left and right in hopes that you can upgrade. The smartest thing they've done through all of this is STOPPING the spending spree. See what you have first, let Evans and Cousins develop (too bad about the coach thing :( ), and then see what you need to fill in the gaps.

I guess it was expected this is going to be Petrie nut hugging and Maloofs bashing fest, don't let the facts confuse you, stay on course and blame everyone else.

Interesting article by Voison and this is where this team is at. Westphal gets one more chance to look at the tape and realize the things that worked and the things that didn't.

More passing and offense being run through Cousins up top. Any time Daly has the ball up top or down low the only thing he should be doing is passing, he's a good passer! If Reke is going to drive then CLEAR OUT ALL THE POST PLAYERS, damn the offensive rebound! If Cousins is going to post up, tell Carl Landry to get the hell out of the way! Spread the floor. 50% of the time Tyreke drives the lane he should be doing so to pass it back out to a shooter on the wing. Play more Cisco! Spread the floor! Spread the floor! Spread the floor! More cutters. More Omri! Don't be afraid to actually call plays. Stick with the guys that will get you there, don't shuffle during dry spells. Get off Cousins' back! He and Evans are the two youngest players, but they're also the best this team has NOW, not just in the future. There will be mistakes but think ahead about the development these guys need NOW. And most off all, ditch the reliability on causing turnovers and offensive rebounding which in turn causes major defensive breakdowns and the inability to score otherwise.

And with that said.... PLAY WHITESIDE!!!!!

Oh, and don't just take "quick shots" take GOOD SHOTS.
