I'm not worried about being above .500 next year. I'm worried about being a contender for the next 10 after next year. What happens this summer will be a big part of that. I would however be OK with that lineup and with Perkins saying 4 for 30 would be different, for that price he's probably worth it. Still think Cousins is a C and is proving to be that post defender we've lacked for a long time. Still not a great weakside helper so I think anyone that plays next to him has to guard those PF's and maybe pick up for some of that weakside help. Daly's more than passable, don't know about Perkins.

And I'm saying if we had to choose between Perkins and Mayo, Mayo (and more importantly Mayo's position) is more important to the success of this team than Perkins' is.
We don't have to choose between Perkins and Mayo. Our financial situation after Dally and Landry walk shows we afford both while still having money left over that we can save for when we have to pay Evans and Cousins. We have the lowest payroll in the league right now; we can afford to fill both the guard and center positions.

You're not even filling in the blanks. Are you saying we're above 0.500 if we re-sign Dally and Landry, and keep the team as is? If you are, I'd have to respectfully disagree. Or are you saying we let Dally and Landry walk for nothing and keep the team as is minus them? If that's the case, that's even further from reality.
As long as we don't grossly overpay him (anything over $8M/yr I'd reject) and leave some money to upgrade Udrih, Perkins would be a great addition to the team, and a realistic target. He's young and an experienced winner, one of the best defensive centers in the league, and an efficient offensive player. People say he'd be nothing if not standing next to KG, but he'll be next to Cousins here. He'd be worth the cost to upgrade Dalembert. Plus Cousins looks great at the PF position like Pau does when he has a C next to him.
So let me rephrase my "all I'm saying" comment: If our choices were (a) Perkins or (b) Marc Gasol at comparable contracts, or (c) Dalembert at a much cheaper contract, or (d) playing Thompson and Cousins, then using the Dally's expiring for other positions, I'd go with (a). I won't buy into the assumption that paying Perkins $8M/year will ruin our chances of upgrading Beno Udrih considerably, because we can afford to do both.

1st read the above post I said about Perkins as Perkins is a good player but way overrated. He is not worth the money he will want & in all honestly you mention 8 million per year I would rather if it came down to it resign Landry or Daly for the 8 million before I sign Perkins for that ammount. Besides this is nerither here nor there because Why would he accept 8 million or so from us when he can get the same 8 million or more from the celtics & have a shot at winningh the title.
For us to get him we would have to grossly overpay him & thats not worth it to us as a franchise .
It's a long shot but I would rather let things play out in terms of D.Howard & K.Love
I realize Howard is a huge longshot but if he opted out & SAC could make a playoff run while preserving cap space , young talent its always possible he could see playing with a really good young team with REKE & COUSINS as core pieces along with him could be truly great . As for Love his situation is simular difference is I believe if the Wolves suck next year they are forced to trade him for multiple reasons . 2 main reasons are :
1. He has already stated he is tired of losing if Sac gets really good while MINY sucks he could want to play for Sac for the same reasons I mentioned of Howard .
2. Minny owees the Clippers a FUTURE # 1 DRAFT PICK this is owed in either the 2011 or 2012 draft if the Wolves retain that draft pick for 2011 that means the Clippers then own the rights to the Wolves 2012 pick unprotected if the WOLVES suck still late into next season they are forced to trade Love for sure as he will not resign & Minny would need to trade him to aquire future #1 draft picks to get possible future assetts.
Even if anyone believes we have Zero chance of getting Howard or Love I stand by my reasons in reguards to PERKINS as I mentioned in this post & posts I listed above .

Re: Kendrick Perkins
Honestly, I'd dispute Perkins being an upgrade over Dalembert, especially for the reasons he'd be brought in here.

There's no way Perkins is going to want to play on the Kings after playing on a championship team. I think Dally is a respectable big and we have a franchise big in Cousins. We shouldn't be focusing on guys that WILL NOT play here. Unless we throw the world at Perkins, he's going to go to a team that has an immediate chance at winning a championship (such as the Heat) which does not include the Kings. And I didn't mean that we couldn't financially get both of them. I'm saying we could end up losing both if we focus too much on Perkins because in all likelihood that option isn't going to come to fruition.
