The Kings today requested waivers on guard Luther Head, according to Kings President of Basketball Operations Geoff Petrie.

Now that Beno's back, I was actually missing his defense. :-?

I'm guessing that he might have interest from other NBA teams and it gives him a chance to maybe catch on with one of them before playoff time?

What's the point? It's too late to join a team headed to the playoffs.

With the emergence of Thornton and Taylor combined with the fact that I am sure that they would LOVE to continue to showcase Beno in the faint hope that someone will want to take him off their hands in the offseason (same thing as is happening with Cisco I am sure - theya re both prototypical Greg Popovich kind of guys), I am guessing that it was just a numbers game and the cheapest option.

Goddamit.

Did anyone inform them that we're currently tanking? we need to give head more minutes, not waive him.

Head is horrible don't like anything about his game glad he got waived. Free's up more minutes for everyone else.

I was actually wondering if this move was made to simply take the optiin of playing head out of westphals hands. Westphal always seems to go to him hoping for different results and is always treated to a crap sandwhich, this seems like petrie doesnt want to see it happening any more so he is taking the choice away from westphal.

I doubt he would ever make it on to anyone's playoff roster but there are a few playoff teams that could maybe use an extra body until then. Still 10 day contracts right? Might also catch on with another team that might have intentions of re-signing him? I don't know.

omg what?!? This is truely a grim day in Kings history... I hope the maloofs know they just let go one of the most dynamic play makers to ever put on a kings jersey.... He had a lot of un-locked potential... he could have been the next micheal jordon of.... mopping. If we would have promoted him to mopboy.. the sky was the limit for him....

Thank goodness. Dude has cost us games single-handedly lately. I'm with longfellow44 up there. If I'm Petrie, I take the option of playing Head out of Westphal's hands. Westphal obviously is not seeing what the rest of us are seeing out there.
