What do you think of John Callapari coaching the Kings?

With the rumors of him wanting back in the NBA, and the clear connection with Tyreke and Cousins - what would you say about Callapari becoming the head coach of the Kings?

He won't fare well in the NBA.

C'mon now, we have Paul Westphal as our head coach. He can't be that much of a down grade, can he?

hes not a good team coach but hes a perfect coach for cousins, i also like how he motivates hes players. on nba level coaching? he need good assistant coaches around him to be success. i see him a byron scott nba type of coach, good motivational coach for hes players but need a good assistant coaches to help him big time, just get good assistant coaches not a mario ellie type of assistant coach. when scott coach the nets he had eddie jordan on his side.

From what I seen, he is only a very good recruiter and a so-so coach. Also, both Evans & Cousins responded to the question "do you think Calipari can be a good coach in the NBA?" Both responded unfavorably at the idea. That right there, gives me all of the reassurance I need that Calipari & NBA wouldn't meant to be.

The whole idea of "well, he was their college coach, maybe he can be their pro coach" just needs to fade away, not to say that it can't happen but it's completely overblown.
Of all the preposterous assumptions of humanity over humanity, nothing exceeds most of the criticisms made on the habits of the poor by the well-housed, well-warmed, and well-fed.

Calapari is a good recruiter not a good coach. We would be much better off looking just about anywhere else. If we go looking for a new coach this off season, i would check with eddie jordan to see if he was interested. His style would work well with our roster.

Jerry Sloan's on the unemployment line. I'd explore that option first before all others.

Jerry Sloan couldn't do it any more in UTAH with the full support of MANAGEMENT and older players. He would last about two practices here and he and DeMzrcus would kill each other.

I REALLY don't like bringing up college coaches - even successful ones - to the pros. It's a different style and demand. College is about recruiting and getting the players to buy into a basic system and play defense. The pros require a true personality manager that also acts as pep coach, media manager and referee. The assistants are VERY key to making the actual court play work well and I often think that we make a huge mistake with this team in cheaping out on that level.

College coaches almost never work in the pros. Larry Brown is the one exception, and Calapari isn't even known as a coach as much as a recruiter. Pass.

I agree though. If we're going to look for someone new, I'd be interested in Sloan for sure.

^^Larry Brown is a terrible coach who hasn't done anything worthwhile in a long time. Now he gets by on his previous reputation.

That game has probably passed him by. He was once an elite coach though. There's no denying that.

With things trending upwards, Westphal finally settling on consistent rotations, and putting a system in place that makes sense for the talent we have I think keeping Westphal might be the right idea at this point. He's had some serious downs this year but he's starting to correct the obvious mistakes he was making earlier on .

As for Calipari? Eh.

Calipari cant pay his players to come to the Kings as much as he can at Kentucky. UK always has more cap space.

I was thinking that... For a guy who has had 12 straight winning season 7 of which are 50+ wins, it's rediculous teams keep letting him go. One of the biggest mistakes the kings ever made. Gave up adelman for musselman sounds rediculous now

No way will Adelman end up in LA; that job has been gift wrapped for Shaw, he's just waiting for Phil to step down.

Hopefully, Adelman splitting with the Rockets does mean he comes back to the Kings but I don't think that happens if the Maloofs are still around.

Adelman will never coach for the Kings again. Westphal has done a good job working with what he's got. The Adelman back to the Kings talk can stop now..

He should go to the Lakers. That way, we would have a mole. He could tear down that franchise little by little.

I think Adelman should coach the kings.
Seriously though I don't like the idea of any more unproven guys. I would rather let Westphal take another shot. He finished a lot better than he was doing. This team should be ready to at least contend for the playoffs next year.
