Re: Kings @ Mavs
We had no real PG last year and complained all season long about needing one after the season was over, and then we went and traded our best PG for a ball hog SF and drafted a ball needy SG. So...when does this start to fall on Petrie's head?

The fact is, we have no PGs to run the offense. The next best thing is having both Cousins & Hayes facilitate most of the time.
And that was all the talk leading into the year! This team last year was creeping it's way up towards the top 10 in apg last year when Cousins was playing PG, sure didn't seem to need a "real" PG then! That tells you the problem is exactly as it appears, far beyond one player or one role. Hayes and Cousins were both up around 4.5 apg at the end of the year, but just like with any "real" PG, there has to be movement and some type of system involved where guys know how to play off of those players. Now I don't pretend to know what is really going on in the locker room or in practice but I'm pretty positive plenty of us on this freaking board could have this bunch for about 15 minutes and have them running at least one damn play, I mean seriously...

Cousins goes from about 4 assists a game to under 1!? Dude, WTF!! And it's not as if he isn't trying, he's looking for guys but they repeatedly just get the hell out of the way and the post feeder clears out through the paint area. They are accomplishing the goal, clearing out for iso. I guess in a way it's better than last year because last year they couldn't even do that for most of the season. You had Landry or Dalembert sitting there clogging the lane while someone was trying to make a move, now you have guys just standing on the perimeter with their thumbs up their butts. Don't know which is worse.

This is the kind of *** whipping that if these guys don't shape up after this, everything is about to get shot to hell, and that's not jumping the gun. This will either head downhill real fast or they'll fight back, but it can't be like that Toronto game where you still aren't improving the long term picture. We all know Evans and Cousins have enough talent to win every once and awhile if they destroy themselves like it's game 7 of the finals, but against Raptors, or Wizards, or the Bucks on a tuesday night? Nah, screw that, total waste.
The system the Kings are using now is what's called a Dummy system, any dummy can run it and only a dummy would want to run it. Time will tell if this is all just last bits of air escaping the corpse that is Paul Westphal's coaching, or something else.

I still say this, don't tell me you need shooters, you get them, and you still can't shoot. Don't tell me you need guys that can pass and make plays for others, you get them, and show me 13 assists on a good night. This isn't just one or two guys, it's EVERYONE. Like I said, if you go 12 deep and it's the same issues every time, all signs lead to one place and that is how you have organized the way you want to play.
This is where Smart is going to be really tested. He's in a tough spot because Paul Westphal **** in the cereal before he got to sit down for breakfast. He's done well with trying to create a "family environment" and he's also curtailed that ridiculous rotation to a degree. He also knows who his best players are. That's already 3 steps ahead of the previous regime. Now he has to find a system. He says "running system", which I totally disagree with depending on what he means of course. This team has a creative and potentially physically dominant inside/outside duo. That's the things most teams that have to run don't have. Use it or lose it.

It's overblown.
DALLAS - By now you might have heard there was an incident involving DeMarcus Cousins during the postgame locker media time.
I spent time on my Twitter account that probably should have been devoted to my game story (don't worry bosses, I filed on time) clearing up what actually happened.
I had to do that after Dwain Price tweeted what happened after having the story relayed to him.
Rather than squeezing the situation into several tweets that are limited 140 characters I figured I'd add some detail and context to what actually happened.
After Keith Smart addressed the media we were allowed into the Kings locker room. By that time most of the players were showering.
I believe John Salmons, Francisco Garcia and Isaiah Thomas were the only players in the locker room.
I know Cousins has been sick for a few days and really had no intention of interviewing him. I also have a rule (that not all members of the media agree with) that I allow a player to get dressed before I start interviewing him.
Some players don't mind doing interviews in a towel, but Cousins is one who prefers to be dressed.
As Cousins was getting dressed there was a cameraman standing about five feet in front of Cousins' stall. Cousins asked could the camera man not point his camera at him while he was getting dressed.
The cameraman said his camera was off. Cousins said he didn't care if it was off, he did not want the camera on him while he was getting dressed.
Cousins eventually went back into the shower area to finish getting dressed.
Cousins returned and by then there were other players in the area. At some point the cameraman is leaving and he makes a remark to someone (Cousins I assume) about making sure his camera wasn't pointing at anyone next time he was in there locker room.
Cousins asked what was said. When he heard the comment Cousins stood up. Thomas tugged on Cousins' sweatshirt and said something like "it's not worth it." Cousins sat down and a few moments later, gathered his belongings and left the locker room after using some choice words.
At no point did Cousins go after anyone or was he physically held back. Seriously, do you think the smallest player on the team could keep Cousins from going after someone if he wanted to?
The cameraman (from what I was told) told the story in the media room and put way too much on how Cousins was acting toward him.
Sorry if you were looking for a story about how Cousins went crazy and tried to chase the guy down while the team held him back. That didn't happen, nor did a Ryan Leaf-like outburst.

Ouch! I can't believe they could even play this bad. Jimmer is what he is. A small white guy who might be able to score, but will never be able to defend in the NBA.

Cousins and Evans are punks. The thing about the Kings are they market and advertise these two punks that their head get so big that as of they control the team not the coach. One of them need to be traded or even both. JIm ferdette is a little puss thats over rated he couldnt even gaurd no one. His FG as supposedly good shooter is .339 and 1.7 TO per game. But who cares, the Kings are not going anywhere. I love it when Bill Walton is the announcer during the game because he tells you what he really see vs Grant Napier who is a kiss @ss for the maloof.
