New starting 5 of Ridnour/Evans/Johnson/Cousins/Milicic.

I hate to lose Hayes because he has been really vocal on defense every time when he's on the floor. He's our best screener/pick person too. Thornton is usually good for 20 points a night.

Milicic is ok but he's inconsistent. Same for Johnson (he's been awful so far though). Ridnour is probably the best player in that trade.

Not feeling the deal.

Heck no to that trade. Hayes is a leader of this team and Thornton is worth more than that package by himself. I still believe Johnson could be a great fit for Sac though.

If you're pick is in the 7-10 range, would you consider a Jose Calderon + Ed Davis for Isaiah Thomas and you're pick deal? I like Jose for you're team as he's a pure PG, and as far as his contract goes, he'll act as an expiring contract next season. Having watched Jose over the years as a Raptors fan, one thing he knows how to do, is feed the bigs in the P'n'R. I guess a concern, however, is that he'll turn Tyreke Evans into a jumpshooter lol. OTOH, he'll make Cousins better, because he'll keep going to him as he did with Bosh when he was in Toronto.

The Raptors just need a new face at PG who can get into the painted area more frequently, so if y'all are expecting that out of you're PG, then maybe Jose isn't a good fit. I don't think it'd be too big of a deal for the Kings, however, because you have Evans who makes a living at being able to get into the painted area. The Raptors have no other capable ballhandler, so Jose by default, has that responsibility, and he just can't do it on a consistent basis.

Yes? No? Maybe?

Listen people, it is a work in progress! This is the youngest team in the league.

All these trades you are offering up are crazy......

First of all; Boston would jump all over Rondo for Evans; as would many teams if Evans was offered. There is a reason that they are shopping Rondo all over the place.

Stop with this fantasy of getting Howard; It is not a risk to take giving up your young talent for a man that will never resign here. And believe me when I say young talent I mean it because it may take Cousins, Reke & Thornton. Do you really believe the Magic would give you Howard and not ask for Cousins?

I don't believe this; Evans is really basically in his 2nd year since he missed so much time last year; furthermore, he and Cousins haven't had quality time on the court together. The same for him and Thornton.

It's simple the Kings are better with the ball in Reke's hands period. All these things you guys are complaining about takes time to develop and it is all on Reke to get it done. He will be a better shooter; he will develop his in between game, he will learn to shoot better off the dribble, he will be a better 3pt shooter from anywhere on the floor and he will be more consistent. If he works at it but it takes time. Lebron, Rose or Westbrook weren't great shooters when they arrived but they developed those parts of their game. Reke will also.

This team is taking baby steps and it would be a shame to throw away the progress that Smart has made so far.

Patience is a virtue!!!!

Fixing the Kings is simple

Be patience
and add great role playing veterans to speed the development of your young talent.
Instill the will to win on defense!!!

Depending on where you draft this summer take Davis or Kidd-Gilchrist

Valid point. I could probably do Thornton/Thompson too if that helps.

Change Thompson to Hickson....maybe...., but even then, I would still think about. Lets see:

Darko:

- Legit 7 footer,
- Decent fit with Cousins,
- Can block shots,
- Can channel his inner "Webber/Vlade" time to time

Ridnour:

- Good shooter
- Active off the ball

Johnson:

- Athletic,
- Can hit 3s,
- Active at times

Projected lineup (not perfect lineup but you get the point, it will something like that):

Ridnour/Jimmer/Zeke
Reke/Garcia
Salmons/Johnson
Cousins/JT
Darko/Hayes

I don't know. I'm iffy about this one. Is there any chance that the Kings can dump Salmons somehow?

Im sorry but thats a bad trade for sac... The only nice piece we have coming back is luke, other than that darko and wj are not the players i would want this team to have.. Thornton has more value than that.. Min on the other hand would definitely like it since they would get the missing sg they are looking for.. Kings pass on that deal..

I think the Kings need a good point guard. Evans is a fine wing scorer, and Cousins is starting to put it together as a big man scorer, they just need someone that can feel the pulse of the team.

Doesn't need to be a ball dominant, big assists guy either. Brandon Jennings, for example, would fit well on the Kings. He can run sets, play defense, and space the floor - which would be a big upgrade.

Then Thornton is the 6th man, and you have all the pieces to be as good as Houston, Denver, and Portland. Maybe that's optimistic, but I don't think the Kings are far away from being a good team.

Kings need 2 players:

1st - A SF that can hit the perimeter jumper CONSISTENTLY(at least from the short corner) and defend the other teams bigger 3's. Nicolas Batum would be an ideal candidate.

2nd - An above the rim defensive big man to cover up our defensive rotation mistakes. Serge Ibaka would be an ideal candidate.

Imagine those 2 players on the Kings as currently constructed and I think we have ourselves a strong playoff team.

C - Cousins, Serge
PF: Thompson, Chuck
SF: Batum, Honeycutt
SG: Thornton, Jimmer
PG: Evans, Isaiah

Fat chance of this ever happening though...

I say keep building around what we have. I like our back court going forward. I think long term Thornton is best utilized as a 6th man. He needs to be in more of a Bobby Jackson/Ricky Pierce role where he comes in and guns it for 25 minutes a night. Jimmer should develop as a nice compliment to Tyreke. Hopefully we wind up with a draft pick that enables us to pick either Gilchrist or Barnes to play SF. If not I'd draft Thomas Robinson to play next to Cousins and overpay for Batum in FA and hope Portland doesn't match. If we can't get Batum go get Budinger (unrestricted). I'd like to see us get a shot blocker to fill some front line depth, Stiemsma would be a good fit IMO. A lineup of:
PG- Jimmer
SG- Tyreke
SF- Kidd-Gilchrist
PF- Thompson
C- Cousins

B-Thornton
B-Thomas
B-Stiemsma
B-Hayes
B-Salmons

Looks like a good young team to me.

I'd much rather target a veteran SF than draft another rookie to be honest. If the Kings continue to win games, I'd throw another multiyear offer to AK47 and hope he changes his mind about playing in Sacto.
