I don't have any problems with it. Give him a chance to have an off season and a training camp to figure out the direction of the team

Re: WT: Smart To Be Kings Coach Next Season
it is the absolute right thing to do:
First of all; he has done an outstanding job under less than ordinary circumstances.
The players have responded to him and why not let the players know that this your guy; he will be here, we will not go get some other retread that you will not like. It gives everyone involved security.
I keep hearing people clamor for Van Gundy & Sloan but neither has won anything! If the KIngs are going to get a big name coach at least get one that has won and since I don't see any of those walking around why not get a guy with fresh ideas and go as far as you can with him.
About Fredette: He just wasn't getting it done which is ok. Some players adapt slower; he seems to be doing better because he is doing what Smart wants him to do which is shoot worry about that other stuff later. Smart knows he hasn't had summer league or a training camp so for now do what you do best. Shoot!!!!
Rotations: I know you guys don't think that this will be his rotation? Let's face it the Kings are not even close to a finish product and the 2 veterans you would've thought were money in the bank have been atrocious so he has mixed a matched and tried things. I also think he is learning what the players do well and not do well. He will have a more defined rotation next year and don't forget these guys are playing a lot of games in a short period. All coaches have long rotations this year. I watch tons of basketball through league pass and all coaches are playing extra bodies; they really have no choice.
I think he is an above average coach does that mean he can get the Kings to the playoffs; I don't know, much of that depends on the players. All the coach can do is put them in a position to excel and after watching this team with him in control, I believe he will do that. In OKC, Brooks has put those guys in a position to win but it was Durant, Westbrook, Harden & Ibaka who said I don't care if I am young I want to win now. Same thing in Philly; Collins is very demanding but the young players there instead of rejecting it have responded. The Kings players appear to be responding now they just have to learn how to win: closing out qtrs properly and what to do in end game situations are some of the things they must learn if they are to get to the playoffs. They have lost 2 road games due to dumb fouls at the end of the game. That's not the coach!
