Would you trade the Kings 2014 first round pick +Ben Mclemore for Rajon Rondo and Jeff Green

Yes- we want to win now and Rondo is a bonafide star.

Kings fans. Would you make the following trade with Celtics?

Wait Wait it DOESN'T include Cousins! I'm serious! Hear me out.

So you've got Cousins locked in now.
Lets imagine the Celtics can't find any free agent or disgruntled star suitors to pair with Rondo and Danny Ainge the Celtics GM decides to blow it up even more- a ground up rebuild.
We want to start fresh and this is a great draft to start fresh- if you're a fan of the draft.

Celtics send to the Kings:

*Rajon Rondo
*Jeff Green
* Celtics 2014 first round pick attained from Nets (or was it Clippers?- anyway it's a pick around 15-20)

Kings send back
*Ben Mclemore
*Kings 2014 first round pick
*Jimmer
*Salmons or Outlaw to make salaries work.

Why?
Kings have the big fella locked up. It's time to win now.
Rondo is the best passer in the NBA- he's a veteran playoff warrior. Not sure there's any other guard you want passing and finding Cousins around the rim- he made a 37 year old Shaq look like it was 1999.
Jeff Green is a solid small forward who is capable of scoring, defending and has become a very reliable three point shooter- he's not All Star level and may never be but he'll defend the best SF's in the game- he can also play the PF in a small ball line up and is good for 15 ppg.
You also get a nice pick in a nice draft as a sweetner.

Celtics at this point agree to sign and trade Rondo because the rebuild is looking like it's a long term initiative. They can't sign any major free agents and Rondo is disgruntled because the Celtics can't lure Love or Aldridge from the Wolves/Blazers and he wants out. They're already swimming around the dregs of the NBA- it's now time to cement themselves as a bottom 3 stinker for a few seasons while they tool up.

Thoughts? Am I way off here (I'm a Celtics fan).
If you don't like/want Rondo, can you separate emotion from the decision and factor in Rondo's ticket selling /star/wow power and imagine what the Kings front office say?

Thanks guys.
Don't burn me too bad. I promised it wouldn't involve Cousins.
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

It would have to be a draft day trade since the Kings still owe Cleveland but I think the value is there. I'm not sure the front office would do it because they love McLemore and he looks like a great fit next to Cousins. I rather keep McLemore over the pick because the Kings never get good picks.

I can say this: To me it appears the value is there and it makes sense; I wouldn't be upset if the deal was made. However, for unknown and unexplainable reasons, I personally wouldn't want to make the trade. And of course, as stated above, it would have to be a draft day deal, and I would be upset if this trade was made and our pick landed in the top 4.

The Kings would have to do something about their depth at PG and SG before this trade. If they get rid of B-Mac and Jimmer, then who backs up Thornton? What about IT 2.0 and Vasquez at the PG spot before the trade (not including the rookie)? Now Rondo is added to that mix? Good value but doesn't make a ton of sense.

How about taking out McLemore/Jimmer for Vasquez/Thomas/Patterson? All three are young and are on expiring contracts. Kings would probably take back Wallace as well and offer Cleveland Jimmer to regain the pick.

What would the Celtics do with Bradley if they got McLemore?

I'm just happy to see a trade offer with the Celtics where Cousins isn't involved.

Because if you want Rondo and Green you have to give us a potential stud- our 2 guys are worth more than just the draft pick (in my opinion at least). Those three players you mention are all okay but they aren't gonna be All Stars- Mclemore still has plenty of hope.

What would we do with Bradley? Not re-sign him.
He's good but he's undersized and is injury prone- could still perhaps make a bench All Star role if he learned to finish around the rim. He gets to the hoop but has trouble finishing- like a poor mans D Wade- although he's a better defender than Wade.
He's coming up for a new deal and I don't want to pay anything more than 5 million for him.

Anyway I think this could be an interesting scenario...

It's interesting. I know I definitely wouldn't do it until I see Rondo come back healthy. Tough call over all.

I'd rather see how McLemore pans out, Rondo and Cousins on the same team with out a strong coach? Na man your asking for something bad to happen. This team needs stability in a bad way. Man I miss the old days with Webber dunking, Bibby and PEja draining three's, and Vlade with his crazy passes.

Cuz has Webber's soft hands, and can run the high post. With a spaced floor, if we could grab another Vlade...

IF Rondo is pre injury healthy where do I sign? I am tired of waiting for kids to develop. Jeff Green is nice, too. I think we would have to add in another player to make the money work, no? I think it's foolish to wait for McLemore to develop vs taking an All Star in Rondo. I'm not even that big on Rondo.

No thanks.

I think Rondo would be a nice fit ON THE COURT for the Kings, but the potential locker room explosions can't be ignored.

That being said, I would trade the draft pick and your choice of our roster out side of DMC, McLemore, JT, & Jimmer. Can't do the trade until draft day, as previously mentioned.
I think it's foolish to wait for McLemore to develop vs taking an All Star in Rondo.
Rondo, coming off of an injury, with known locker room issues (we have enough of those), is not worth both McLemore and 2014 pick to me. It is not a question of talent, rather, I worry about the locker room atmosphere with him and Cousins loosing games. What remains would not be good enough for the playoffs, and would not have the promising young guys that the team hopes to develop.

McLemore is the guy I would want next to Rondo, the pick can be discussed. Either way, the Kings can't make that trade until after the season any way.
