Never thought I'd see the day you have players like Thompson, Leonard, and Marc Gasol getting deals discussed at a max level. Thompson is probably the closest to it, but dang, Luc Longley must be rolling over in his grave, haha.

Book it he would have failed miserably here too. He's looking so great because he is being used as a perfect role player with the Spurs. So good that some GM's are willing to gamble that there is more behind it than just that. Maybe there is, but he would have crashed and burned in Sacramento.

I mean, I'd say we need to go ahead and lock up Rudy due to the lack of competition he might face in FA and the rising cap but what a question mark has this turned into? Can Rudy fit into what the organization is trying to do in terms of the motion? Would he be willing to tone down his FGA and become a more team-oriented SF if that is what is called for? I want this to work because I like him

Will there be? It's amazing what happens when first prize is off the market. The best hope is that Chandler Parsons fails in Dallas. That might scare some teams off of players like Gay if he does. Unfortunately that's the market for Gay most likely. The fact remains if they re-sign Gay there isn't any real space at this point. Smart move is to rob the W's of someone like Draymond Green. Make the teams with multiple contracts coming up pay for bending over to their hold outs.

I don't think the cap goes up next year much, the next year after is the supposed to be the jump year but there will probably be a lockout then too so who knows that's going to look like. People are over focusing on the amount some players are going to make based off the new TV deal, it doesn't matter, a player represents a percentage of your salary cap and a bad deal will remain a deal that keeps you from being able to make necessary changes to your team.

If this continues, Gay is going to get 15M+. He may not be worth it, but look at the rest of the players and what they are getting right now. I mean, Rubio for 4Y/55M? What?

I thought 15 would be the price for Sacramento before any of this started. It's gonna be even higher like 17-18 million if he plays real well, after some of the current contracts.

Our state taxes are so bad, and lack of endorsements, etc, before you even look at what our franchise has to offer.

I wouldn't be surprised if it takes 16+ M to keep Rudy. He's more valuable to the Kings than other teams that might be interested since we already know he fits well with DMC and SAC doesn't attract all-star level talent in free agency.

Coach Malone was just on the Jim Rome Show to talk about the buzz around the Kings. I can't help but laugh.

Let's beat Denver back to back and start 4-1, then I'll start to wonder.

Yeah, as much as I can irrationally get my hopes up, it seems like every year some people pick us to be the dark horse, overachieving, new OKC or now the new Phoenix. I'm not gonna buy it till I see some consistency for at least a month or two.

The Suns probably give teams like the Kings hope, their roster was and is flawed much in the same ways, albeit at different positions. Anything is possible but yeah, lets just hope for competitive games at the very least.

I posted on KingsFans that I got this team with 45 wins. Everybody laughed at me.

I think this team can win 48 if a few things align.

Let's not jump ahead of ourselves. We were 3 and 1 in 2010 and we won something like 24 games. Yes, the playoffs sound sweet, but we're in the West. Unless Durant is out for the entire season, OKC is going to bounce back. Portland dropping out is probably our best bet, but then Phoenix is right there to fill that spot. Let's shoot for 35 wins and start from there. Anything over 40 would be an amazing season, playoffs or not.

I still am firm on 35 wins, but you know teams typically are good OR bad in the NBA so it wouldn't surprise me if we went beyond that.

Let's not forget that last season's 76ers started out 4 and 2...

Kings fans are probably the last to get too far ahead of themselves. Remember how good this team looked for a stretch in Rekes rookie year? At least this time they are doing it with defense, and because they are it could bode very well for this team moving forward.

The difference is Cousins and Gay are playing like SUPERS right now. They aren't playing like All Stars...SUPER stars. The way Gay was raising up over people Wednesday...DMC bullying people.

The switch went on in their heads like why not us? Why not them?

I just want wanted to stop and say you guys are doing a great job. Hope you win your division this year.

I still think we need to play .500 ball before we start talking playoffs. It's a long season, but we're definitely better. I had said it before but I have always thought the next step had to be with DMC playing to his potential as well as Gay. That's definitely happening.
