Wow, from D'antoni to Malone. If those aren't opposite ends of the spectrum then I don't know what is!

I like Nurkic & Gallo, though.
you wouldn't trade landry and the 6th pick for Lawson and chandler?

The only business I'd make with Denver is if WCS and Winslow are gone, I'd offer the 6 for the 7 and Chandler possibly, but I may just draft Mudiay.

About the only trade I'd consider with them.

But that is the thing, they AREN'T shopping him, just as you WEREN'T looking for a new job.

The other company took a gamble that they could add a valuable asset to their company
EQUALS
the offering team looking to add Cousins took a gamble and probably offered a lot of value taking into account the Vlade's statement that he is untradeable.

Your/the Kings FO handling of the situation, as the one receiving the offer, is the most important variable here.

You can go to you current company with the offer and get there input
EQUALS
Kings could go to Cousins and let him know a team has offered us blank and blank for you to play for them. Out of loyalty, we brought this to you to get your feeling on the matter and to let you know this was offered to us not the other way around.

Then your company has the chance to give their input. Either they really want you to stay, no matter who they could get to replace you, your value to them is that high. Your relationship with the company becomes more stable due to the honesty and loyalty. Or they don't value you as highly as you may have thought and feel confident they can replace you with someone that is better either in the long or short run
EQUALS
Cousins really wants to stay and keep building in Sacramento and the FO agrees and disregards the offer. Or Cousins would rather leave then stay and you get to bring in large value in return for him.

To handle what you're goning to say next before hand. The logic of them bringing it to him is that someone could leak the offer and whether you were considering it or not he MAY could become disgruntled. This way you control the message.

Lawson's deal for the next 2 years -- $12,404,495 & $13,213,482

I don't like that price tag at all.

Plus, he carries baggage and has off-court issues. I don't understand why people think he holds a high trade value. If anything, this past season, his trade value has dropped -- clearly.

Chandler is a decent piece but he's only a 33.9% 3PT shooter, career-wise. I want my SFs to shoot at least 36% 3PT. He's a solid defender but nothing game changing. I rather play Casspi. Karl has revived Casspi's career, imo. Casspi averaged 11 -5 -2 while shooting 47.5% FG & 46.2% 3PT for Karl. I know his 3PT% is not sustainable but given the fact that he's a 37+% 3PT shooter for his Kings career -- I would like to believe he has a legit chance to break into the 40% range next year. If not, a 38/39 percent range is really good, nonetheless.

I let Landry rot in the bench if it means not to devalue the pick. Another K9 situation.

The only appeal for this trade is that those 2 players have experience under George Karl. That said, net-wise, we are taking in $10m+ in contact $$$ if we do this trade. I'm not sure if we have the cap space to sign someone (good) in the FA. Divac wants to use the FA as an important tool and this deal effectively eliminates us from the market.

Yeah, that's what I would probably do too.

What about a 5% chance? Or even 1%? A smart person would answer the all calls regardless because as the saying goes, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take."
There are more variables here outside of "answering your phone".... In your scenario if your job found out you were looking for another job they would smartly prepare to replace you. If Cousins found out the Kings were quietly shopping him its game over in Sacramento. Actions have consequences and until the FO is in agreement to move on from Cuz you don't answer those phone calls. Let it go to voicemail :D

You don't have to indulge every random thought with its own thread, and then go off topic as you start it. PM me if you have questions.
