I do think that the Kings are at a crossroads. Start from scratch or build through the draft. I guess this is one way of finding out his trade value? Kind of Jerry Jonesish...but...

I've been thinking about this for a long time, but I don't think the Kings have the ability to become a contender during the Cousins era. They've just messed up a bit too much most likely, and the West is too competitive. Cousins has what, 3 years left? That pretty much means they have 2 years to become a good enough franchise to convince Cousins to stay (since the last year they will have to deal him most likely). Considering that not only the Kings are bad, but they have mistreated Cousins (at least from his perspective), that is a lot of pressure to become good in a very short amount of time.

They probably should just trade Cousins, and just re-roll the dice and hope they land on something. I never thought it would come to this though, it takes a lot of balls to trade a top ten player when they have 3 years on their contract left.

I do think that they hurt their trade value a tad due to this leak. Cousins is still going for a premium, but they probably could have squeezed more if teams did not know that the franchise was this dysfunctional.

His value is fine. Once a top talent becomes available, the bid war wins.

But we need to decide what to do here shortly.

First we need to figure out if we are going to fire Karl or not, and quickly, before camp starts.

Second we still have a lotto pick this year, and unless we are outside the top 10 next year another one as well.

With the sky rocketing cap next off season, Cousins contract is pretty cheap, we will be able to do something.

Best case scenarios for us are.

Keep Cousins, somehow we figure this roster out and make it work, or, we move and do a entire scrap fest and rebuild. That means moving Rudy & Collison too.

Worst case scenario would be trade Cousins for some veterans and treadmill away for awhile. With our luck we'd be on a treadmill at like the 9th-10th seed so we couldn't even play make believe.

I'm sorry but the Kings have possibly the best offensive big in basketball and one of the better scoring wings in the league. They have a top 10 pick in a good draft, cap space, and movable young pieces. Only a total outlandishly (Please Use More Appropriate Word) mongoloid could not have some sort of success with that.

I was very consistent in not wanting Karl anytime his name was brought up in the past but I'm going to take a wait and see approach. I think someone is really doing their best to muck things up because they have a grudge. Cousins looked like a superstar under Karl late in the year, how can these guys not at least want to see what next year brings? C'mon, not even giving it a shot? I'm not buying all this.

Who do you think is messing with us if it is not internal?

Fegan has long been tied to LAL and would make bank with Cuz in that market so that's likely your Laker source.
And PDA not only has an axe to grind, he wants to help force us into a deal with Denver so they can unload their cap.
A nice big fat middle finger to all of them as far as I am concerned.

Sounds reasonable to me.

Seems to be unfinished business with Karl though too.

At some point you represent the player. If there is no rift between Karl and Cousins then why doesn't Cousins get a hold of his agent and tell him to shut up!

5 years in Cousins is probably good either way.
