For me Ben needs to, at minimum, hit his open threes. He didn't do that consistently last year and we need that especially in lineups with Rondo, Gay, and Cousins.

I'm not worried about offense. We've consistently been in the top half of the league when it comes to putting up points. The biggest issue for us has always been defense. I feel this is a big reason why we started off the season so well last year because Malone focused on containing the opponents while allowing our offense to do what it does. Karl has preached defense in his interviews, but our starting unit needs to do better to stop the other team from scoring.

That being said, with the new team, new system, new season, we have a sample size of one. I'm not terribly worried about Rudy, and all I really want from Ben is to be fearless and aggressive in stopping the opponent's top scorers. Both those guys have the ability and capacity to score. I'll begin to worry about their fit into this new team/system after we have several games under out belts.

The Rondo/Cuz experiment looks like it could be good kind of scary.

This year decides whether Ben is a volume scorer or a floor spreader, they need the floor spreader. It's hard for a volume scorer to transition into being a high percentage shooter on less than 10 shots a game. That's why players like that are coveted by contenders with talent already in place elsewhere.
