The only scary thing is if Thibs gets an offer. That right there is the obvious choice still sitting out there if he wants the gig. I mean, you couldn't get any more obvious than that.
Karl still needs time but he also needs to continue to adjust to the players abilities.
The reality is this time if the coach goes it's probably full on rebuild time. I would hope not but they are all probably scratching their heads at this point.
Would the Kings trade Cousins for the #1 pick?

We've had an interesting thread ongoing on the Celtic board about this same topic....And trading for Cousins had some support
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1412798#start_here
But after that Mexoco City beat down, I think the support has dwindled considerably.....
So I'd beg to differ with your statement....
The guy has a world of talent but a brain the size of a pea....and he just can't help himself when things don't go his way....
The league knows that and they will all use it against him.....And to boot, the refs hate him because all he does is whine...(kind of looks like they hate Rondo too.)
If it was left up to me, there would be zero interest in any sort of Cousins trade, never mind a trade involving the top pick......
Sad to say it but the guy is damaged goods....
Celtics fans are talking to themselves on that thread, the organization isn't trading him
But his value is a young top ten player with a multi year deal

Well that is indeed true.....And he could do wonders for your team and his next contract by just chilling out...
I was sort of a supporter when that thread began...We have talked about acquiring Cousins as early as last season....
But he really hasn't changed much except when that interim coach took over for a time last season....that guy ( I forget his name) was somehow able to get thru to Cousins....But his games against us have been stinkers lately....and he never seems to grow up and lose that habitual whining that catches the worst in the way of attention from the referees....
I dunno...I just think adding Boogie to our mix could harm more than help....even if he is a top ten player....And I have to say good luck to you "King2013" ....I know you guys have to hope for a miracle at this point...And if "Allstar" Rondo is able to keep focused and somehow get Cuz to do the same, your team has a fighting chance to take a step forward....but it's going to be tough sledding at the very least unless some of the other young players develop too....And they all resolve to play some decent defense.....
In a way, it has been like that with us....And we hope our young guys have turned that corner now....and will become more confident and consistent going forward....

I'm still not super stoked on this draft, but that Ellenson dude is interesting.

bleeds_purple wrote:I've said it since Karl came in: the problem is coaching (and realistically the failings of ownership to put the proper managers in place). Malone had this team playing great last year. Gay had found his niche doing most of his damage from the freethrow line area and post ups. Cousins was finally being patient in the low post and absolutely wrecking teams. Collison was doing well as a starting PG who scored but didn't try to do to too much. He had everyone playing to their strengths. There is no doubt in my mind that if Malone had this roster to work with we would be close to a 50 win season.
Now what do we have? No one has defined roles. Instead in this garbage system we just have dribble drivers at all 5 positions. Its a **** joke to be totally honest. We are actually on the verge of permanently ruining Cousin's career at this point with this three point garbage - turning him into a Rasheed instead of a dominant low post player. Do you guys remember how we ran things those first 14 or so games last year? First handful of possessions are all low post touches for Cousins - after he scores on the single team the other team gets to decide whether to double and open up passing lanes or to continue to get destroyed in the post. Other than that we continue pounding in the post every play with Cousins, Gay, and even Thompson. This year we actually have superior personnel for that play style and instead we are running some trash system. Our biggest problem last year was feeding the post. Rondo basically solves that single handedly. Add to that we have better post up players and more shooting and it seems like we'd be perfectly setup for the Malone style.
At the start of the year I told myself I would give this team 20 games before I came to a conclusion. Well, 20 games in I can say this is a dumpster fire with no signs of improvement.
Defense is a product of effort. Its pretty clear these players are rather demoralized at this point and you can tell that by the fact they put very little effort in on defense. The worst two offenders are Cousins and Gay. Do you see Cousins taking any charges this year? Rudy's defense is Hardenesque.
As for tearing it down there is no chance. We have pick swaps committed. And to be honest we have nothing outside of Cousins that will net us any value to rebuild with. Gay is a negative. McLemore is a nobody at this point. What picks can we get? The only option is firing Karl ASAP. Don't wait for the end of the year. Don't wait for the deadline. Just rip the bandaid off and get it over with. Then bring in a guy who wants to run a post up offense around Cousins and Gay. Either play to your strengths or enjoy the 13th seed every year.
I totally agree. Karl is the classic example of imposing his own system rather than playing to the strengths to the available talent. I wouldn't mind of letting him go for a guy like Thibs.
