Torn Achilles Rudy Gay

Post#1 » by DoItALL9 » Thu Jan 19, 2017 7:12 am

Is Rudy Gay going to opt into the last year of his contract? He'd said he would opt out all year but now the guaranteed money will be hard to turn down since most teams won't want to offer him a sizable contract until they see that he can still be productive.

What's the best deal he could expect if he opts out? From who?

Wes Matthews is an example of bsomeone who signed a sizable deal after a torn Achilles.

He has no other choice, dudes career is done, finished, that is all folks. Would have been good for the kings to get at least something for having Gay on the team for so long.

I think Rudy Gay is going to make it back and get another contract. He won't be the player he once was but knowing Rudy he's gonna fight going out like that. His skill set will carry him to one more contract after this one expires.

With an injury like that, its highly unlikely to opt out to his contract and a trade is unlikely too. Gay will be with the Kings next season unless he will be waive or bought out.

Dislike Rudy as a player but hate for him to suffer an injury like this, very unfortunate. But yes, at this moment if I had to guess he will be opting in.

Very sad for Rudy and for the Kings. I always find myself rooting for them to get things together.

Hopefully they will be able to get an injury exception for his contract next year. Healing and rehab time for a torn Achilles is almost two years. He will be expired in the normal course of things anyhow.

He'll absolutely opt in to rehab and "prove" himself as able to continue to play basketball next year for his next contract(which will be way, way less now). Nobody is going to risk a contract on him and know his first year(of his last few) will be a wash.

While this absolutely sucks for the organization(they won't get any young assets for him in a trade and on the hook for his salary next year), this is possibly more devastating for Gay as it may have cost him millions upon millions by erasing his last good/decent contract which more then likely won't ever be offered now.

Philly has won 7 of the last 10? Damn, this could go from bad to worse.

This is yet another reason why the Kings should have been blowing this all up months ago.

philly will end up getting a better record than the kings and get the luxury of swapping picks... and people here said that pick swap was useless... vlade might just strike again lol... can't wait for 2019.....

I hope Vlade gut checked Vivek if he did in fact override a Rudy trade..

This injury is gonna cost Rudy tens of millions of dollars, not to mention the effect it's going to have on his athleticism. I feel bad for him.

Looked like it was going to be useless but now its just Kings luck and stupidity tied into one. Another classic Kings season.

James Ham and Doug Christie both believe there is a real chance Rudy Gay will opt out even with the injury. That would be a blessing for Sac.

Imagine he sucks and is never good again...If he opts out and gets More than the $14m he is due next season it's a win for him even if it's over an extended amount of time
