James has shown some defense potential to me. It's not like Papa G poo poo.

Don't believe me? Go research the data on successful players selected 40 and beyond. The odds are not good.

But being picked 40 is of higher pedigree than most of what he’s facing now, or should be. Thus, I expect to see something distinguishable even if he never becomes a good nba player. Especially for a 4th year guy.

Like Frank Mason had distinguishable moments of looking like a player in SL

He came from a small school with subpar coaching. Mason was playing on the biggest stage for one of the biggest schools and a legend coach. You can't compare the two.

BTW, in game 3 he posted 9 points and 9 rebounds while playing good defense. He showed he has 3-D role player potential.

Precisely.

I’m not looking for a Star in him.

I’m looking for hopefully getting a solid role player on the cheap.

Yes. I don’t see the type of handle that he needs ti be an all world type of player. I think the shot will be developed n the power game is already there in spades. Long term, if he develops avg handles, he’ll end up playing like ron artest with more athleticism. Bags > Zion long term.

James looks good. Plays team ball on both sides.

RJ Barrett looks avg to me. Don’t understand why he was drafted so high.

Good for Guy though for getting his two way contract. Hope James continues two way flashes

Is it just me, or is the general offensive spacing during summer league better now than when we had Joerger?

Key sure seems more opened up, and we are putting up lots of 3's.

I'm assuming we are running a similar basic offense that Walton will use in the regular season?

Another note defensively, looks to me that we are putting more pressure on teams on the perimeter, but leaving open the key quite a bit on things like pick and rolls.

Anyone else notice this?
