Because we significantly upgraded the team.

Unfortunately you didn't see it tonight because the brilliant minds that sit on the bench saw how effective it was to run much of the offense through Sabonis in the last couple of games, but thought, that's too easy, let's make it hard on ourselves and went completely away from it.

Clutch loss. Can't afford to win any of these games where teams are missing their key guys when the team is only 4 wins behind ATL for the #13 pick.

I mean how do we go from giving Sabonis the ball at will in game #1 to barely running anything through him? This was weird.
Also a reminder that this team is inconsistent and still needs upgrades. We still only have 1 good forward on the entire roster.

Harkless is not consistent
Metu is hot and cold and should not be relied upon.

Sabonis looked visible frustrated by lack of calls. And the ball movement suffered. 12 assists as a team. Far cry from the last 2 games.

Trap game. Kings were feeling themselves after a few wins. Pick up ball stopped working after they got punched in the mouth. They need some practice time.

I noticed there is a pattern when an opposing team are without several starters, the Kings get blown out bad. This has been happening for a long time -- at least for the past 10 years. I'm not entirely blaming it on this core but it still sucks to see them lose like this. They could have put themselves in a better position if they want to reach the play-in.

Totally. They came out with low energy, and the Nets were excited about the new additions and punched us in the mouth. Brown was an absolute monster out there finishing with 19-6-6-5-3 and 0 turnovers that's a crazy stat line. That to go along with us not getting calls that first quarter and the team started to get frustrated. Id say the difference is in years passed we woulda given up in the 1st quarter, where this team fought back in the 2nd quarter.

Still a very poor offensive night all the way around.

Sabonis still finding his way, needs to be more aggressive and he acknowledged that.
Barnes had another one of his disappearing acts, hopefully he doesn't fall into that stretch again.
Harkless fell back down to earth.
Overall the team shot poorly from beyond the arc. Fox/mitchell combied for 5/11, the rest of the team went 4/24.
Ball movement was bad, we lost the glass, had more turnovers, lost fast break battle.

Going to be really hard to win games like that.

Pretty much hit the nail on the head.

In terms of losing games like this. It will be better next season* (coaching situation dependant) after a full training camp. I think Doug can really help in this department mentally.

Ya I wish Gentry would have resigned and let Christie take these last 25 games. It would have been a nice test run.

Still some positives to take from the game.

Fox 6/7 from the line. Shot 50% from the floor, and 40% from the 3. He absolutely needs to work on staying engaged defensively. He can be solid on that end, but tends to fall asleep.

DDV with 8 rebounds and 5 steals! He's so active defensively. Was the only player with a positive +/- yesterday. Id like to see him cut a bit more and not force 3s like he did early in the shot clock. Wonder if he has a green light as he tries to get back on track. But hes looking like a great pickup imo. Fits nice next to either of our point guards.

I'm really curious what Monte has up his sleeve this off-season. He absolutely needs to address the forward spot. Its going to be crucial if this team wants to take a step forward. Nearly 40 minutes of bad play from Metu/Harkless yesterday. That won't cut it.
