I guess Masons SL performance solidified backup pg need though
Smart is more than a backup pg. I see us running Fox/Smart/Bogdan/Hield to soak up the majority of minutes 1-3. Temple/Jackson can take the rest.
I think Jackson is showing in SL he may be good and ready to man the wings with Buddy/Bogdan. He’s a talented/good kid that may be on the path.
I hope your right if we go that route. There probably are the minutes to go around between the 5 of them Fox/Smart/Buddy/Bogdan/JJ to the small ball PF. But, I just think Capela is worth 5 mil more than Smart and will be a better market asset. We will see
Jackson is the go to guy on a summer league team. That means just about as much as doing the same in the G league. Maybe even less. It's more of a good thing than bad, but when that role disappears the question is whether or not he disappears. I think he does have qualities of a solid role player but you certainly don't ignore better more concrete options if they make sense. I think Jackson gaining some size makes it more likely he can get more minutes as a small ball PF like he got some last year. In the end it's no different than before, the Kings are either cutting someone out of the front court and back court, or are platooning again which last year is the prime example why you don't do that. It kills asset value.
Mason to me is a different story. He doesn't provide the same types of intangibles. If the team had a need for a creative volume combo guard off the bench his value would be higher but they don't.
