Who has mentioned Sabonis-to-Kings up to this point? This is actually the first time that we have been connected with Sabonis, I think.

Just search Sabonis Kings on Twitter. It's a thing right now.

Chad Ford is pushing the Sabonis/Kings hype...have fun riding that train!

I haven't seen Chad Ford saying that.

Edit: Checked Ford's twitter ... No tweets about Kings taking Sabonis. Where is the push from Ford coming from? Doesn't he have us taking Brown in his latest mock?

It was in one of his previous mocks 8 or 9...

As far as projections go, Ford's latest mock draft has the Kings landing Oklahoma Sooners sharpshooter Buddy Hield at No. 8. However, he noted if Hield is off the board, Gonzaga's Domantas Sabonis is a "dark horse" and that "the Kings are very high on him."

Oh ok I never read his stuff so I was unaware of his dark horse picks. Still that doesn't sound like an agenda Ford is pushing.

Chad Fraud is useless. Dude edits his boards after the draft to look smart, thinking he's slick. Like no one would notice.

Dudes has 0 credibility

Exactly, that's why this Sabonis promise talk is ridiculous.

That's fine but remember none of the Sabonis promise talk came from Ford. You can't discredit every rumor regarding a player because at some point Ford said a team is "very high on him".

NBADraft.net has had Sabonis at 8 for the Kings for like a month or more and it scared me ever since. He's a solid player, but wow.

Hey Vlade, take a look over in Indy, see that Larry Bird guy? Yeah, that's how you do it pal.

If it's Sabonis then yes, Kosta HAS to go. Sorry, but this is another Nik Stauskas/TRob situation in the making if they draft him and then make no moves to fit him in. That would also have to mean no Anderson either because there aren't enough minutes for two lotto picks, Cuz, and another big minute front court player.

No matter who it came from, I aint buyin it. With the Kings being the 8th team in what many are considering to be an 8 man draft before the drop off and the 5 players slotted picks 3-8 scrambled to go in any which order you don’t make promises to a guy not in that 8. Not to mention we are weakest in the back court and on the wing, but yeah lets make a promise to another big.

Ok nbadrafts reasoning:

"The Kings are in need of a power forward"

They really seem to have their finger on the pulse!

They must see WCS as a C. I don't disagree myself. The question I have have is what kind of PF do they need? Sabonis is a strong classic post up player with limited athletic ability, limited length, who has shown he can shoot a bit, but hasn't proven he's a stretch big yet. For him to live up to any of his potential he'll have to have an offensive role that allows him to produce. Good luck finding that with Sacramento. Drafting a player who isn't a major need filler (unless Cuz is gone) and flipping the finger to all your major needs in the process is just wrong. BPA be damned.

Sabonis could be a very productive player in the NBA, but not unlike Thomas Robinson, you have to let them produce or they are all but guaranteed to just going to disappoint you otherwise.

Not to belabor this but Nik and TRob arent very good. If TRob cant beat out Jason Thompson, Chuck Hayes and Travis Outlaw for minutes then he isnt good. He is on his fifth team and finally put up some stats at the end of last year with Brooklyn. Is it a Ray Mac thing where a guy who is limited puts up numbers against inferior talen or guys who arent playing as hard as they prep for playoffs?

Same with Nik, he just isnt that good. Guy shot 38/32 last year on a team where there is nothing in front of him and he still didnt do well. Maybe he can carve a niche role in NBA but I cant see more then that.

When IT was here nothing was carved out for him, he excelled over a guy drafted considerably higher in Jimmer and earned his playing time. Nothing was given to him which is how it should be.

How would you have set Nik and TRob up to be succesful other then more patience and better coaching that would clearly define his role?

Ibaka is being dangled around by the Thunder.

Ibaka is on his final year of his contract ($12,350,000).

Yeah, if they're asking for the #8, I would like to think the Thunder need to add in more to the table. Losing the #8 for a rental would be a very hard pill to swallow.

Give Sabonis 6 shots a game in 20 minutes and if he's picked at 8, guess what he looks like then? No minutes, no shots, and you get another very underwhelming lotto pick for the Kings.

Usually when you draft in the lotto, your only concern is to set players up like that with minutes and shots. That didn't happen here. That's the problem when you take a production player (winning aside, very few rookies are the catalyst for winning) and not give them the opportunity to produce. Will a team win giving players like that a big piece of the pie minutes wise or shots wise? Probably not, heck, the TWolves aren't winning with KAT and Wiggens either. Not saying that they (Nik and TRob) would have produced in the same fashion of course.

Now, Sabonis is a solid defender, and does some of the little things like screening well, etc. so he can impact the team positively in whatever minutes he got. But at 8? No way, not for the Kings realistic needs or opportunity available. Of course, if the Kings could trade down to get him while picking something else up, that wouldn't be too bad.

I think the Thunder are realizing a shot blocking PF putting up 12 and 6 isn't the most valuable thing these days in an era of mostly outside play. It would be interesting to see the offers. If the Kings hadn't have drafted Willie I'd be for the Kings getting him. Maybe even still, but that value would have to make sense.
