Re: Trade Idea Thread 15-16
I've reconsidered, I don't want Rubio. I'd rather go for Brandon Knight. Successful NBA teams today have scoring guards. That was part of Kings problem last year. Other guards torched them. Not only because of bad defense but Kings guards didn't score nearly as much as opponent guards. So Knight over Rubio. As back up trade I'd take Beverley over Rubio. He's a better defender and scores same while not as good as distributor. With Howard gone would Rockets want Koufos? Or KK/Ben for Beverley and either Ariza or Brewer. I think including Rudy is too much.

For me Gay for Rubio is an immediate yes, let alone adding Lavine (even I'm not specially high on him). I wouldn't care about free agency, add value to the roster and think later.

Re: Trade Idea Thread 15-16
Wolves didn't want to part with Lavine with the # 5 for Jimmy Butler at the draft. So, they rejected the deal. I believe Lavine is a bit overrated but he is still valued highly in the eyes of the Wolves.

It's probably Gay/Ben for Rubio and Shabazz.
Shabazz is instant offense off the bench so adding him with Casspi is already a great start. We'd also have KK to sign and trade for Crabbe as we'll and money for Anderson. With those moves our bench would be Collison/Shabazz/Casspi/WCS that can be elite.

Based off those stats you're right, Rubio is ranked 2nd and Beverley 5th. In my opinion Beverley just has an edge to him (same reason I want Kings to sign Matt Barnes). Kings need more toughness. I think that fits into a Cousins/Joerger led team. Also Beverley shot 40% from three compared to 32.6% for Rubio and Rubio makes twice as much money. I only see Rubio as a better facilitator and I think the Kings would have to trade more to get him. I also believe Collison is better than both. If he misses first 20-something games it's easier to start Beverley and then have Collison step in when he returns. After next season Collison is a free agent so I think the Kings still need an upgrade at PG better than Rubio or Beverley. I'd rather pay Beverley $6.5 million to play back up PG than Rubio at $12.7.

Ya I didn't know Beverly was such a good shooter Gay/Ben for Beverly and Ariza needs to be done. Also loosing Gays offense would mean picking up Anderson is a must and would turn us into an elite shooting team

Agreed Lavine is a better Dunker that makes him more valuable . lol
By the way I don't care anything about Lavine myself or Payne for that matter . I just reported facts as I know it that's all .

Well if the Mozgov madness is an early indicator, KK value should be rising substantially.

I do not understand this Kings fan obsession with Allen Crabbe at all. Why do people think this guy is worth the kind of money people are linking him to?

I don't think Crabbe is worth that money but two things are going on here:
1. Everyone recognizes in order for the Kings to sign FA's they usually gotta overpay.
2.Cap figures are different so everyone's definition of "overpay " is no longer universal. Foreign numbers this year so it's hard to say what's too much sometimes.

I see where you're coming from there, I just disagree with the premise that the Kings don't have any option but to overpay people to come here. I realize that this is the position they have put themselves in, I just think it's a terrible way to go about running the franchise. It's on thing if we're talking about overpaying good, young, proven players a little more than other teams would to convince them to come here, but I don't think Allen Crabbe should fall into that category at all.
I wrote a lot of words about this on STR yesterday, and I even touched on the comparison of the dollar amounts being thrown around this summer vs the the dollar amounts being thrown around 3 summers ago. Take a peak if you're interested..

Re: Trade Idea Thread 15-16
Allen Crabbe is one of the few players out there that fits and fill needs. He shoots well from 3, and he plays defense. Anything other than a player like that is a waste of time and money at this point. Spend away. Yes it will look bad if they massively overpay, but oh well.

According to real plus minus stats, he plays about as much defense as Nik Stauskas.

Except for the part where he doesn't actually play defense. I have no idea where people are getting that idea from. He was not even an adequate defender by any definition of the word.
On top of that, the guy has played 1 full season in the NBA despite being a 3-year veteran. He's started 17 games out of 147 games played...He doesn't pass the ball well. He doesn't get to the rim. He doesn't create his own offense. He's a spot-up shooter that came off the bench and chilled at the 3p line on a great 3p shooting team.
How exactly does that amount to a huge contract?

How much have you watched him play? I've watched him quite a bit and his defense is pretty good and he tries hard, it's certainly better than anything the Kings have on the wing currently.
If the Kings play it right, all he, or anyone else in his situation would have to do is spread and wait for a Cuz double team. The sign says "OPEN" all night long.
