Capela... gone.... game over... off season over for me in disbelief...
Bjelica is fine but hes going on 31 role player
The team needed a significant piece
Another bad offseason

Really? I think that's a nasty risk to take to be perfectly honest. Granted you're only giving up cap space (and not talent), but man oh man is it a lot of cap space--nearly $30mil per year for the next FIVE years.
Here's my issue with Wiggins: his measurables look amazing, but he's an incredibly low IQ player and doesn't have a modern NBA skill set.
Offensively he's a volume scorer with below average efficiency. Remember all the complaints about Cousins' low TS%? Wiggins is markedly worse in that department. What about creating for others? Nope--2 assists per game.
Defensively he's an abomination given his tools. Just a steal a game from this guy. With that length, quickness, and athleticism. That should really tell you all you need to know, but the advanced stats tell you more:
1) Negative DBPM all 4 years in the league
2) DRTG of 113 or more all 4 years in the league
3) DRPM ratings for SFs for his last 4 years (starting at most recent): 4th to last, 3rd to last, 7th to last, 7th to last
And he did a good chunk of this under 1 of the best defensive coaches of his generation.
Is there really that much of a difference between Wiggins and TJ Warren? I think Warren's overpaid for what he brings and he's only making $12mil a year. Wiggins is at 2.5x times that for the same production and similar kind of player.
Like I said I would prefer to avoid him. But if we made the trade I could understand the rational. I don't think hes been used in the right spots and hasn't been put in a place to succeed. He needs to be running fastest pace in the league, not playing like Demar Derozan IMO.

I think Bjelica actually makes the team a little better, but if this means another platoon year then the Kings are just begging to be sitting in the middle of the lotto for at least the next two years with players eventually tuning out, and then leaving in free agency. If the Kings have learned from their mistakes then Justin and Frank just saw their NBA career trajectory dive. If they let Joerger platoon again then everyone will see another year of watching their career trajectory dip instead of just a few seeing the dive. Dive is the way to go. Dive all the way.

Kings can still do a capela sign and trade

Not going to happen. I see no way out of this other than trading someone from the front court, but were talking about a team that is perfectly fine tanking the value of any given player then cutting them while still having their contract sit on the cap!
Player to player I like the signings better this year than last by far, but they continue to compound things with each move.

Re: Kings Off-Season
They gotta fix the PF/C glut.
If I was Vlade, I'm selling 2 or 3 out of the 4: KK, Z-Bo, WCS & Skal to the highest bidder.
Good news is that both KK & Z-Bo are expiring. WCS is up for an extension after this season I believe.
Are the Kings content at the SF hole? I hope not.

Re: Kings Off-Season
The Kings should have made a run at Kyle Anderson when they had the chance.
Now, if things stay the same, we are looking at Shump @ the 3. With players like Bogi, JJ, Bjelica and possibly Bagley seeing minutes at that position too.

If you're gonna be perfectly honest with yourself we will have one of if not the worst record in the west and no draft pick. We don't have anyone even theorically possible of being a number one option. We got less for Cousins than we gave up in the Stauskas trade for the honor of signing Belinelli and Rondo. We passed on the best player in the draft for a big. That's all she wrote folks. Welcome to 10 more years of lottery irrelevance. This roster is never going to sniff the playoffs unless hell freezes over. I've resigned myself to that fate. The league is so much smarter and competitive these days. Incompetence on this level will never succeed.

Re: RE: Re: Kings Off-Season
Well I'm sure we will see Davis cut. Koufos/Randolph need to basically be player coaches riding the bench all season long. WCS or Skal should be moved for some sort of wing (Stanley Johnson, Winslow, Oubre).KF10 wrote:They gotta fix the PF/C glut.

Other than that I'm glad we didnt get Anderson. With 2 traditional bigs and Fox he was never a good fit at the 3 with our team... there really wasn't a ton of SF choices this year, next year will be more promising with the 3 I mentioned above Tobias, Middleton and more...
I see it like this.
Wcs/giles/
Bagley/Bjelica/Skal
Jackson
Bogdan/Buddy
Fox/Yogi
Figure out 1 of Skal or WCS and get a long term small forward by next summer and I can see a vision. Its been a snails pace with how deep the west is but I'm excited for 2-3 years down the road.

Michael Beasley (13,2+5,6+1,7) signed 1 year 3,5 million deal.
Nemanja Bjelica (6,8+4,1+1,3) - 3 year 20,5 million deal.
Vlade is the the best serbian friend, but the worst NBA manager ever.

Beasley would be a terrible player to pick up for this rebuilding team. Bjelica can play SF and his $ was close to what other teams offered

If Vlade wanted to give his buddy 13 millions (I hope third year is non guaranteed), he could just offer 25/2 with second year 1 million guarantee. It won't hurt our cap this season and will be attractive trade active next summer.

Dude. Beasley is a known quantity. Hot garbage. Empty numbers. They are hoping he works as a bench scoring punch and figure that LeBron can cover for his utter lack of any defense.
A guy like thatbia of absolutely no use here.
A 6’10” solid well rounded guy who shoots threes at a 40% clip and can play 3 or 4 and knows his role while we develop with a lead guard who can beat anyone to the rim but has a questionable jumper at this point?
That’s exactly what is needed right now and was missing from this roster.

I don’t get the hate on the Bjelly pick up. Only 3 yrs guaranteed with a < $7m cap hit. The guy has great length, can actually defend the 3 at a respectable level and hits 3’s at a very high rate. I think he’ll be our starting SF and play a big role. I also think the Yogi pick up will pay off much bigger than people realize. He’s a poor mans Bobby Jackson with the same grit and determination. Kings won’t make the playoffs next year but they’ll be much better than people think. Good on Vlade.

He's more useful in switching which if the Kings finally go that route it makes more sense. As for Yogi, another player who will give you some scoring if you give him the ball. If they just took the ball out of the hands of Buddy, Bogdan, the young bigs, and Fox then we as fans are in trouble. They gone the smallish volume guard bit like it's mandatory. It's not, somebody should really tell them that.

I think Bjelica will see most of his minutes at SF unless the team looks so horrible that they can't do it. If that's the case then they are losing value from day 1 again. Every year it's the same story. This time the financial ties and the players aren't as questionable at least.

Mbah a Moute who's much better defender than Bjelica signed 1 year 4,3 mil.
7 per year multi year deal is close to VanVleet/Randle - young players with high potential.
Bjelica's contract is awful, you can't convince me.

Agreed - I have been hard on this FO - especially last year when the brought in veterans (and now stuck with Randolph and Shumpert) instead of gathering assets. And I wasn't a fan of taking Marvin Bagley in this years draft.
But both Yogi Ferrell and Nemanja Bjelica are good pickups. They are young, improving and their contracts are reasonable and not that long.
The issue isn't these pickups (not bad), the issue is they don't have a well formed plan and have ended up with yet another mismatched roster and no first round picks for next year.
Code: Select all
Fox Mason Ferrell
Hield Shumpert McLemore
Bogdoanovic Jackson
Bjelica Bagley Labissiere Randolph Giles
Cauley-Stein Koufos Davis
