I've talked about how Barnes/Fox have benefited from playing with Sabonis.

Meanwhile Holmes has been hurt by not playing with Haliburton. Our offense was based around Hali/Holmes pick and roll 20x per game. That is where Holmes excels.

I think 2 things can be true -

1. Hes not a good fit in this offense anymore, and the team would benefit from playing Jones over Holmes.
2. Another team can see Holmes last 2.5 years with Sacramento and think he would work in their offense.

I don't think teams are so surface level that they believe he suddenly went from an uber efficient guy to garbage over night. Sometimes players just aren't good fits with the personnel around them.

Would you guys rather have had Horten-Tucker instead of the Bagley package? He's 9.5Mil this season then expiring 10Mil next season

I'm having an argument with a friend

Not a chance. We wanted Donte, and we got him. THT is garbage

If the team doesn’t jump in the draft, the pick needs to be traded in some fashion (moving down etc). 2 years to build with Sabonis.

Davion isn’t coming off the bench again, and will arguably be a better two way player than Fox. Which raises the conundrum; Fox still has non optimum trade value despite the good play of late, so he better learn to play with other ball handling guards.

The statistics didn’t show it, but I sincerely hope Fox and Davion fit next year

Can we get expirings for Holmes at this point? It would open up some room

Im interested in the market as they look to unload him, but he might be back

I'm still unsure how they will approach the Fox/Davion thing this offseason.

IMO they both have about the same type of appeal, and trade value

When Fox is on his game he has individual scoring prowess that surely outclasses Davion. Davion outclasses Fox defensively by a wide margin at this point. Davion has improving offensive game. And I think you'd give the intanigbles to Davion, being a world class worker, and Fox with a questionable motor.

That not to disparage Fox, as when he was playing for that brief moment post Hali he looked like a capable top offensive option, that some still hope can rise to impactful offense that actually influences winning.

That means I could flip a coin on the personnel direction at this point between them.

They both are undervalued assets currently without much trade market for their talent. The fact that Davion was benched all year, and the fact that his motor could really lend itself to forward improvement makes me weary of moving him at his market now. Fox, on a max deal, still needs to show a lot more post Hali game before teams are willing to give up a bevy for him at this point.

So, they both are undervalued now IMO, which will make a trade harder this summer.

Even if the fit is cumbersome, I still think you will see both back here next season

What (if anything) would the people of Sacramento be willing to add to a Donovan Mitchell for Barnes/DD/#7?
I bought a boat.

Donte Divencenzo? He is a restricted free agent. Can he be included?

Id personally add at least another protected 1st, but idk how fellow Kings fans feel.

You may be right on the contract status, I'm never well enough up on that stuff.

Suppose it could work with Holmes in place (probably make more sense in a 3 team deal that way)

How would you feel about the following:
Sac out: Barnes, Holmes, Harkless, 7, 2023 1st (top-4 prot.)
Utah out: Mitchell, O’Neale

That sounds way too good for us

Its already talked about that Holmes has negative value in the T/T forum thanks to his play and outlandish off the court allegations

Barnes is expiring, and aging.

I'd give Fox and 2 1sts for Donovan easily.

Ya I guess it depends what Utah wants to do. It doesn't seem the Utah way to full on rebuild.

Kings out: Barnes, Holmes, #7, #37, 2024 unprotected 1st
Kings in: Mitchell

Utah out: Mitchell
Utah in: Barnes, Josh Green, Powell, #7, #26, #37, 2024 Sac unprotected 1st

Mavs out: Green, Powell, #26
Mavs in: Holmes

_________________ Another interesting one if Utah just wants a shake up

Utah out: Mitchell, Gay
Utah in: Rozier, Barnes, #7, 2024 Sac 1st, #37

Kings out: Barnes, #7, Holmes, 2024 unprotected 1st, #37
Kings in: Mitchell

Charlotte out: Rozier
Charlotte in: Holmes, Gay

Would you guys take Golden State's #1 and #2 picks in 2022 for Holmes? I think it might work with Sac under the cap. Not sure how to value Holmes but GSW will need a backup for Looney next year beyond the untested Wiseman. And no, GSW will not ship either of those two guys (I'm assuming Looney re-signs with the W's) so don't ask for Wiseman. Let's assume the Warriors don't make the NBA Finals. Or if they do...

From my understanding GS doesn't have any TPE that can allow them to absorb Holmes. Making this illegal and impossible. Even throwing that out, considering they are already paying a massive tax bill I cant see them willing to take on another 11 million dollar contract without sending out a few deals.

I'm curious about your thoughts on this guys.

Pretend for a moment you are one of the other 29 GM's in the league. Monte calls you up to make a deal and you know at least for the time being he is a lame duck without a contract after this season.

Does that imply any desperation?

Would you ask for more?

Is this going to make his job harder?
