Re: NBA 2017 Draft thread. 5th pick and 10th pick.
This trade is based on latest DX mock. One change, Kings draft Isaac #5, ORL takes Tatum #6.
UPDATE
-----------------
Kings trade:
10
34
Richardson
Kings receive:
8 (DSJ)
W. Matthews
----------------
Mavs trade:
#9
W. Matthews
Mavs receive:
#10 (Ntilikina)
C. Lee
34
------------------
Knicks trade:
8
C. Lee
Knicks receive:
9 (Monk)
Richardson
------------------
Why?
Knicks shed Lee's salary and get his replacement who just so happens to be their man in Monk. Richardson is a promising young SG, 1st round pick last season.
Mavs Move back one to save money and get a better player in Lee, plus they still draft their guy Ntilikina. Add an early second asset.
Kings Take on salary for 2 years to move up and grab DSJ. Walking away with Isaac and DSJ is a big win for the Kings.

To add to my post the other day .
From what I am told if the Celtics pick 1st they will draft Fultz ( no surprise ) however the basis for the Celtics considering trading us the #1 pick for our 5 & 10 + is because the Celtics are very high on Tatum and they also like J.Jackson & they feel 1 of the 2 are likely to be available at 5 & if not Fox and they would be happy with him as well .
There is a lot of talks going on
I am hearing that the Suns as well as Detroit might be trading their 1st round picks as well .
If the Kings do trade for the 1st pick or the 3rd pick and trade our 5th & 10th I believe it becomes even more likely the Kings and Blazers pull off a trade for the Blazers 15th or 20th pick as Kings really want to have 2 x 1st round picks in this draft .
Should the Kings keep the # 5 & 10 . Kings are hoping for Fox at 5 and Isaac at 10 if he slips a bit Monk and Markkanen would be possibilities .
Again if we keep the 5 & 10 and Fox is gone , We would take homever is available at 5 between Ball , Jackson & Tatum
from their the #10 depends on which of the 3 at 5 are gone but then we are targeting 1 of Smith ,Ntilikina , Monk or Markkanen .
We do have callers for our #10 pick so it is hard to say for 100% certainty from what I here as concrete .
There is a good possibility that Koufas gets dealt between the draft & there after but before the next season.
Our 2nd round pick if available would highly likely be Bell , F.Jackson , Swanigan or Rabb if he slips further . Again our pick here would be determined based on positions of players we took in the earlier part of the draft .
Should we trade for the 20th pick we would be likely to select 1 of Ojeleye , Leaf or Giles however we also could take Bell if we think at the time of our 2nd rounder he would be gone .
I saw someone say something about trading Temple . That is possible but very unlikely . We consider him not only a great defender , person & teammate but he is a great teacher for our younger players and all of this is invaluable . Temple will likely be a coach after his playing days are over .
I do not expect us to trade for any vets right now unless it is to absorb a bad contract from teams to gain future picks , assets .
We have a lot of cap space we must spend with only so many roster spots available . It would be best served for our future 2 years from now and there after to take on this course of action . Plus when any player or players we get expire we may gain more assets as they become expiring .
Some players we are working out that are 2nd round possibilities are not even players we are considering drafting . The basis for doing so is to keep and have good relationships with agents and also incase any go undrafted we can invite them to be a summer invite . I would not read to much into any one player we are bringing in protected as being a 2nd rounder or non selected .
Wait... what on earth do the Kings have if they trade both their picks to get the #15 or #20? What would such a trade entail? I'd imagine that Portland is interested in moving up, and moving out would likely mean taking on Turner for the #20. I'd imagine Portland asking for more than just Turner for the #15.

He said if the Kings use 5/10 to move up to 3 then don't be surprised if Vlade deals with Portland to acquire 15 or 20. He was referencing your Turner dump.

I'd say 15 is off the table. I don't think Portland has any interest in using 15 for a salary dump. I'm guessing Turner for #20 may be negotiable though. I'd wager that's at least what Portland's front office would say. I think Portland wants to get better, not very easy to do that if you're giving up players and draft picks without the ability to safely replace either.

What you are suggesting is a VERY expensive #20. Good luck to finding those buyers.
I am interested in Harkless.

Of course... that's why I think the whole premise is bunk. Looking at it from Portland's view it doesn't really make any sense. All word out of Portland is that they are not looking to move picks in a salary dump. So instead they trade the #15 + Turner, what then? Over the luxury again next year? Minus a really nice asset.. I don't think that's happening. I would wager most of Portland's salary dumping will occur at the trade deadline, or next offseason. Makes a lot more sense then. I'd say it's WAAAAY more likely they trade up using the #15 than trade the pick in a salary dump.
If Sacramento doesn't trade up, I'd be interested in #15+#26+Harkless for #10 though. Assuming certain players are still there.

So the Knicks could be a potential trading partner if interest in Jackson is real. I also heard J. Jackson aced Phil's triangle quiz.
What would be a fair trade with NY to move up to 8?

taking Noahs contract? if they want, they can also get our 34th, i don't care. trading up from 10 is for me the best case scenario, i would love this move
Uh if we take in a contract like Noah's then I can see sending the #34 back but they just send the #8 as well.
That's the price for THAT particular albatross.

Re: NBA 2017 Draft thread. 5th pick and 10th pick.
I cringe every time I see someone suggesting O.G. Anunoby. It's annoying. I might consider him around pick 20. Here are my reasons against picking him at 10:
-He is injured. He won't play the first few months of the season. If he has a setback or doesn't come back the same, that's even worse. This lack of time to improve his game will hurt him a lot.
-He averaged 11 points a game as a Sophomore.
-He is a bad shooter. The only reason we "need" a small forward at pick 10 is if we took De'Aaron Fox at 5. Why would you want to clog up the middle that badly.
-His character is not very good to me. I've watched interviews of all the prospects, including many of his, and watched his character during games and I don't like it one bit. He's not the kind of guy who I think has the mentality to become great.
-Picking someone just because he is a small forward is stupid. That's how you pick flops over stars.

He won't be there at 20.
Probably gone at 15 at the latest.

Would love this deal. I think Harkless would be a great fit at the 3. Good defender, good shooter and I think he's the same age as Buddy and WCS.

On the contrary . Portland is very much wiling to trade at least 1 of their draft picks & though I don't think they will possibly trade 2 of their 1st rounders . Not saying in the same deal . Portland has to few roster spots available with at least 2 horrible contracts if not 3 of . They will use a 1st rounder to dump at least one salary . Harkless is the contract they could trade the easiest based on possible candidates the blazers would be willing to move . Aminu ( next easiest ) Crabbe , Turner & Leonard are possibilities as well .
Portland is in a bad spot & the entire NBA knows it . To trade most any of the players will cost them a # 1 pick this year .
Kings , & New Jersey are most likely trade partners with Portland .
I am certain Portland will trade a pick & I would bet you on this is we knew one another . I don't think it would be aloud on this site so I will not even suggest a bet .
What you did say about the deadline has truth to it because they would be looking to trade at the deadline as well . However again they will trade one of their 1st rounders in this draft . Yes it makes a ton of sense for Portland .

Isaac has worked out for Phoenix twice and now says he won't work out for any teams outside of the top 4. Hmmm, promise from Phoenix? How does this shake up the draft?

Not sure it does much. Philly holds the cards here. There seems to be traction to Jackson at 2, so maybe Philly takes ball and Phoenix takes Isaac? It's seeming more and more likely that fox or Ball are there at 5 (if philly goes Tatum and Phoenix goes Isaac in the above scenario)

It would not surprise me if some team draft someone unexpected. Every prospects has their strengths and flaws.

I suppose Ball could play off-ball with Simmons if his catch n shoot numbers match up. Tatum would be a bad fit IMO.
