The Pelicans are going to have a much harder time adjusting than the Kings. You can't just throw too super high usage star big men together and expect them to go on a huge winning streak. They will each have to adjust and will likely be worse individually at least.

But you throw a bunch of underutilized talented low usage unselfish players together, everyone will play better.

Agreed 100%.

It still feels good to get a win in the manner they did. The thing I liked tonight are the bigs ran hard on transition offense and defense while DMC never really gave to much effort on either. No complaining to refs all game long as well so no hold your breath moments to see what explosion could possibly happen

They are going to have to figure out to play pick and roll defensively. IMO Davis is the guy who has to step up and spend less energy in pick and roll offensively and more energy in pick and roll defensively. If they do that then that 1st rounder will unfortunately not be that high this year.

Gentry is also going to have to augment his preferred style of up and down basketball in favor of clock control. He might not be the right coach for them otherwise.

I'm hoping *fingers crossed* that afflalo wasn't playing tonight because he's being bought out. I think we couldn't trade him and now we're negotiating terms and he will be gone by saturday.

After that it's already Feb 24th, reports said malachi is out 4-6 weeks. I'm guessing with our depth we take absolutely no chances and let him take an extended recovery. I'll be surprised if he plays more than a handful of games rest of the way. In other words

Koufos/wcs
Tolliver/Skal
Mclemore/Tyreke
Temple/hield
Collison/Lawson

This is how I see the rest of the year playing out.

Decisions to make next year tho. Like what to do if tyreke and mclemore both play well. Now more than even I really want Rudy to opt out. If he opts in and we can't trade him (id move him for no value) we need to cut him prior to the start of season. Don't want him near these guys.

Willie looked a little more aggressive attacking the rebounds tonight. I think a part of it could be that he conceded boards to Cousins. He still needs to get better but it looked a little better tonight.

I remember several times Cousins yelling at his teammates "I got it" about the rebound. Even fighting with his teammates to get the board.

Still don't think wcs is a good rebounder but probably better than we've seen. With the rest of what he brings, just hit the gym all summer and he can up his strength and boxing out.

Just got done telling my brothers this. I expect it to take longer for them to gel, but is under 30 games enough time to gel and get into a rhythm to actually make the playoffs?

One good thing for the Kings is that Rudy Gay is unavailable to play.

Because if he was, he would be endlessly chucking away right now.

Instead, you'll get unselfish basketball.

What a GAME!!
#WCS played out of his mind
#The Caribbean connection (Hield/Skal) surprised big time in particular Skal
#Tyreke I'm hopeful can stay healthy and resign with us on a decent deal to be our 6th man in the coming years I love his demanor and ability to get into the lane at will, if we are going to keep building around WCS/Skal/Hield/1st pick you need a guy like him to make the game easy on them.
#Benny Mac if he keeps this up I'm not sure what we are going to do despite at times being abused on D due to size he played super hard and confident.

Also Grant Napear might have been the biggest winner in the DMC he's legit hated the guy for 7 years and finally gets to call games without seeing his BS.

The only thing that could have made tonight better was having Quincy Acy back on the team but you can't have it all.

We don't want them to tank TOO much, that pick is top 3 protected. Hopefully they just miss the playoffs and we get a 8-14 pick.

I've said from the beginning, as unhappy as I was to trade Cousins everyone is beyond over critical of divac. The guy traded a 1st round pick to move stauskas/landry/Thompson and that led to us getting Koufos/Richardson. If we don't swap with Philly that doesn't look bad at all. His #8 for #13, #27, Bogdan looks brilliant if Papa or Bogdan pan out. Hell Skal might be better than Chriss alone!

Oh ya WCS looking great! And to think these trade transaction guys said he wasn't worth Rozier or Cam Payne this year hahaha

Let's calm down and see what happens first. If we end up with a top 3 pick and have to swap with Philly, it will be a disaster. Trading that package to Philly was a horrible move, especially with the UNPROTECTED pick coming up in 19. Now, if we can avoid the swap, we can all relax a little more....but let's not pretend that it had anything to do with getting Koufos/Richardson. The Suns trade was good, but not sure how BB fits on this team after we pinned our hopes on Hield.

Willie Cauley Stein broke out last night, Is he already the face of the franchise? Hield had a good game too, Skal got minutes.

Yea I mean right now that doesn't look like it's going to happen. I'm not saying that it was the best trade or a good trade, I'm saying that people make it seem like it was the worst trade of all time. Fact of the matter is he dumped 16-17 million in salary equivalent to what 27-28 million in today's nba? Was able to sign Kostas and belly, traded belly for Richardson. So in essence, chances are we trade 1 2019 1st round pick for Richardson/Kosta while getting to dump 25-30 million in garbage contracts.

That in no way is as bad as its made out to be. Now if we swap this year and our 2019 is #1 overall and Richardson busts, I get it. But let's judge the trade once we figure out what the actual damage was.

I'm happy that Kings fans can move on from Cousins and it looks like you guys have some serious potential with the young guys you have. Cousins is a great player, but both he and the team clearly needed to move on from each other. I think the Kings have a much brighter future now than before the All-Star break.

What are we going to do with all of our SGs next year? Will we bring back McLemore? Even without him, we'll still have Hield, Bogdanovic, Richardson, and Temple. Temple can play the 3 spot from time to time. If Richardson bulks up a lot, I could see him potentially playing the 3.

I don't know how our lineups will work out. Hield: starting SG? Bogdanovic: backup SG? Temple: SF? Richardson backup SF?

Just got back home from work, still can't believe we played like this. I'm really proud with this team.
Celtics fan.
We also face the Kings twice in the near future. I think it's time Yabu pays back some of that free money he's been given his entire career and bounces Fox for a nice 2 week ankle sprain.
